Well about 4 weeks ago, a Google Streetview car drove past me walking down my road.

How long before I will be able to look at a pixelated image of myself on Google?

It varies quite widely from about 6 months to nearly 10 years - if you look on the location on street view and click 'more dates' on the top right you'll see how frequently that spot has been updated in the past.

It looks like they do more than one pass though - I was passed by one last October but looking at it now me / my van are only in one 'frame' on that date and its raining in that frame and dry in everything else from the same period.

I can't answer your question but I was once visible on street view in 3 separate locations simultaneously.

One outside a bike shop in Newcastle, another looking under the bonnet of my Ford Capri in a carpark in York (broken fuel pump connection, fixed for a few pence and some borrowed pliers) and lastly, resting on a street corner in San Francisco after pushing my bike up an unrealistically steep hill.

They're all gone now, but wow. That was a thrilling chapter of my life I can tell you.

you know you can see previous views from the location right? if the image has been updated you can click "see more dates" in the black box and access previous versions

I did not know that! Found one of them straight away. The boring one. I'll never remember the junction in SF though. I am stuck at work all afternoon, so I might as well get paid to look for it.

Google Earth allows you to change the satellite imagery and in some areas it goes back about 90 years to historic black and white aerial photos.

Google Maps on the other hand, let's you change the age of streetview. Not sure why both can't be achieved in Google Earth!

We had a guy at work photographed with his feet up in his work van and it took a few months for it to appear on Google (at which point it was shared with the whole team 🙂 )

I was in Bourton-on-the-Water earlier this year, with a Japanese couple who had been working at a friend of mine’s hotel/restaurant, and a Google camera car passed us three times while we were in the centre of the village, in slightly different places. I must start checking the street view photos sometime soon.

I'm disappointed you didn't fling yourself on the floor, strip nKed or scramble up the street sign....
My old business partner was caught by it picking his nose...

Well I'm now on Google Streetview, didn't take long at all for them to update.

Ha! Climbing street signs isn’t a skillset I possess, as for the others, at my age I’m too old and slow, the camera would have missed me!
Plus I’d have had to bribe Yusuke and Miwa to stop them telling my friend and their boss about my embarrassing behaviour in public!

I’d have never lived it down. 🫣
