Just been sent the usual link to mine for February.

It is depressing.
Home. Tesco. Butcher. Balbinka (Polish store in Didcot).

I got excited about going to B&M for WD40 but forgot that was Monday so won't show until next month.

Ooh mine might be exciting - I had to drive 15 miles to the nearest wickes last week. It was the highlight of my month!

Mine used to have hits all over the country and sometimes the world. Last month I had two locations, separated by about 4 miles. If I hadn't gone to the opticians it'd have had just one pin at my house.

Each month mine tells me I've been to a village about 30 miles away that I haven't been to in almost 2 years...

Horrible isn't it! Last year mine had South Africa, Japan, Singapore, Central and West Coast US, lots of Europe. This year I have the local Tesco metro, the woods where the dogs get walked, and the golf club down the road, also where the dogs get walked.

How thoroughly depressing.

Last year for mine wasn't too shabby - Borders, Arran, Lakes, Peaks, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Quantocks...

2021: Home. Work. Petrol station. 3 places. 😀

This is something I used to enjoy looking at, I’d forgotten about it but just looked and I’ve been absolutely nowhere for months! Not even home our work apparently.

It appears to have stopped working since switching to iPhone - is it only an Android phone thing or can I wake it back up on iOS?

Been checking it. Last year at the end of Feb I had a ride in Weymouth that went via train to Dorchester and Puddletown. Then back to Weymouth, up to Portland for a ramble and then back home. Out of the house from 10 until 6 and along the way visited a coffee shop 3 different pubs and collected a takeaway curry.
This year, same day I went to Tesco and was out of the house for 45 minutes.
Is sad.

I find it odd(read scary) that google amps, especially street view is tied in to any photo uploaded into google.
eg You have your road, you can navigate along it till you come to your own home. If you have pics uploaded that show the inside of your home these are accessible, but maybe not to the public.

I found this by accident on 2 occasions. One was navigating down Shaftsbury ave looking for a homeless unit i used to be in (Centerpoint) but was having trouble getting the streetview to turn to go down one of the streets(Firth st), as i turned the view it sort of glitched and gave me a view of the ave and the inside of one of the offices there. I moved the cursor forward and the view left the street and started navigating directly inside the office, which was empty and probably the pictures were uploaded by an estate agent. I could navigate through 2 rooms showing the desks and chairs therein. I could also see out the office windows from it's first floor position back out onto the Ave.

2nd time was cant remember the road, but passing a restaurant it glitched again and i was inside the restaurant showing people eating and having a party, so maybe those pics of the party had been uploaded into google. No faces were obscured.
It's a bit like developer mode(no clip) in game design software, where you can navigate through the wall of any textures you build into the map.

If you haven't switched off geotagging in your camera settings then it will record where it was taken. If uploaded to Google photos, then it will show you those photos if you are looking at them using a system that is tied in to photos.
I'm guessing the pics you have seen have been uploaded and set to be publicly accessible so show when anyone is viewing.
Disable geotagging and any pics you upload won't know where they were taken, so shouldn't show.

You can switch off the photo geo-location, both for you, or / and public, and it will strip out all geoinformation if you share them. Look in the Google Photos settings & security area.

Mine shows home, a few of the local shops, up the local hill where I ride, my parent's house and the 3 hospitals I've driven them to this year. That about sums up 2021 for me.

16th September last year is my last entry, which is a week after I got my new XS to replace a 6S.

I’ve looked through all the settings I can find and everything looks switched on 🤷🏻‍♂️

I know depressing. I walked half a mile to the Tesco Express last week. I reckon it was the first time I'd been in a shop since January (mrs GD generally does the food bits as I cannot be trusted not to add random and unnecessary food stuffs/random hand tools/other junk if I go to the butcher/bakery/supermarket but can be left to walk the dog/cook dinner etc. without causing financial ruin/general mayhem). Last time I went into the local model shop for a tin or two of paint I spent £100 including two new kits.

I think I said on one of those depressing covid threads I doubt I've been more than 4 miles from home in 2021 due to not riding with an injury. Dam that's a gloomy thought. Going places is one of life's great joys.

Sorted. Apparently my phone thought it was my iPad, signed out of Google / removed data and signed back in.

It then recognised it as my phone and allowed me to turn on the check box next to the phone, but only if I set it in Google photos.
Weird.

I’ll see if it starts keeping an eye on me now.
