It's not getting it's head round traffic, not diverting me round delays or having a clue how long it's gonna take to get to my destination. Currently sat at J22 on the M1 not moving. Says 2hr delay, yet I'll be back home in Matlock in 1hr 50
Anyone else?
Thats why I use Waze
It's my day off today. Googlemaps has correctly located me and tells me that my time to reach home is 0 mins. I'm sat in my favorite armchair, so all is good here.
Not much help for you I suppose, sorry 🙁
I prefer Waze for traffic avoidance. They're built on the same technology though...
Google now prioritize the most economical (or is it least polluting?) route by default.

Yeah I've already turned that nonsense off (still got a leaf next to the journey time though)
Whatever route it's calculating though, there's no way I'm getting home 45 miles away in 10 minutes less than the delay I'm actually sat in 🤣
M1 shut now, so it's anyone guess 😭
If i am driving somewhere when i know there will be little traffic then always google maps but if its busy then TomTom app on Android Auto seems reliable.
I use it every day and this has been a problem for a few weeks now. 40 minute delay on my journey last Friday but time to destination was 18 minutes.
Also doesn't seem to want to divert around traffic anymore if there is a quicker route.
the delay is the total delay on that part of your route. if you're already sat in it, the remaining delay is less.
Turn off.
Turn on.
My Google maps occasionally hiccups. This solves it.

Nah it's not that, it's not adding any of the delay into the journey time. I was at the back of the queue almost when I wrote this anyway.
Been using it for years, it's definitely playing up - as Peter said above
Yeah, it's been flakey. Kept trying to send me on longer routes the other day, despite the little X mins shorter flags. Just occasionally though, doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.
I’m glad it’s not just me, I’ve been complaining about it not being as good as it used to be.
A few times recently it’s either not re-routed around traffic or re-routed but made things worse, it used to be spot on. I’ll try turning off the Eco routing and see if it gets any better, this is the first I’ve heard about it being a thing.
It's been utterly shite for me forever, the other day it sent me on a "crows flight" tour of Cambuslang to get to East Kilbride then decided the best way to get to my destination was up a farm road, along a gated track then hike over a field. There was swearing. Lots of swearing.
I've noticed a lot of ghost roads appearing as well, roads that have never actually existed in this century or seem to have been lifted from planning proposals. I've reported a load but not all of them have been dealt with. If I was the paranoid type I'd say someone is ****ing with it.

My windscreen mounted Garmin (caravan based routing, hence I have it) gave better advice today than Google and that gets its info from a very flaky Garmin Drive app. Google definitely has the shits at the moment, but dunno why

Are you sure you didn't have it set to walking or cycling routing? I've done that in in the past, much hilarity as it tried to make me drive down tram lines, (with adjacent cycle paths) in Nottingham.

Yep, it's also done this twice on us recently. In Inverness a few weeks ago it was trying to send us up a private lane, bollards, and clearly used by pedestrian and cycles. Then in Glasgow last week it was suggesting a right turn over a central reservation....
Ok, fair enough. I did notice a lot of our internal power station roads appeared on it a few weeks ago. I guess wherever that mapping data was gathered from didn't supply any details with it.
Mines been playing up missing traffic and closed roads for a few weeks. I just checked through my app settings (iOS) and found that the location access needs to be set to ‘always allow’ for live traffic updates. Not sure if it needed this before but maybe has an impact?
Interesting. Just checking mine - it's was set to only when using app. I've not had issues but if I do do at least an option to change to allow all the time
It's always been weird like colouring roads up ahead amber then when you get there it's a national speed limit rural road with no traffic whatsoever.
And the weirdest one is when you're heading somewhere and you're on time it'll suggest a slower route. Who wrote that in and why. Who's gonna think 'Oh yeah I really wanna get there 17 minutes later!' 🤷🏻♂️😆
