I think our unit has suffered a terminal failure after an interaction with a heavy drunken clumsy visitor.
What's the best direct replacement that doesn't cost the earth? I just want to cast to our Denon mini-HiFi mainly using PowerAmp app from Android phone/tablet.
look at bluetooth receivers as well. I like the chromecast audio for multi room music through different systems at once, but if it's just one system, I find bluetooth to be less buggy and less prone to needing resets. Might be our wifi that's the problem, though!
I don't understand why they stopped selling them. They were very cheap and it seems that there was no competition at that price point so they could have lifted the prices and sold bucket loads

Yeah, this.
Not sure about PowerAmp compatibility but I've a Wiim mini and it's excellent. I intend to get a few more.
Yep Wiim Mini is the thing - currently £75 on the worlds worst best shop. Much better front end than the chromecast with more connectivity options as well as gapless playback etc etc
Didnt realise they'd stop making these.
Real shame, I have them connected to all stereos in my house and love how I can connect my phone/ipad to one, all or a combination of them.
Prior to getting them I was looking at spending hundreds on a sono system but set this up for about £100.
Better hope they dont break now!

Ages ago now, unfortunately.
There's a raft of them on eBay at varying degrees of sore-bottom asking prices.

I saw that, we only paid Google £25 for ours in 2015
Pure Jongo A2 is similar and sell for about £15 when they come up on eBay for bids
Are these the equivalent replacement from Google?

Think with the Sonos integration and licencing and the fact that google brought out it's own smart speakers it didn't make sense for them to effectively allow anyone to turn their own hi-fi into an additional smart speaker.
Got one in my 1991 kenwood stereo. It's still the best sound system I have. I bought two google audios so if I do break this one, I've a spare 🙂
