Have to get to Chichester on Friday morning, usually down the A285. With the FoS on and that being the recommended route for car park traffic, anyone know how bad it gets?
Would love to go to the festival but that’s not an option.
Avoid the area, simple.
Go so far out of your way to avoid Chi, it's a bottleneck all around it what with the main A27 and all that...
Sorry.
I won two tickets for Saturday on Twitter yesterday (including a 'close up' tour of the Renault Lotus F1 cars) đŸ™‚
Was looking to get there earlyish - before 8, anyway - anyone got views on what traffic will be like to get in?
Can't do that unfortunately, need to be in the middle of Chi as daughters doing paperwork and keys on a new house.
Was there last year on the Revival weekend and it was grid lock on the bypass. Worse for the FoS I'd assume.
You have to get there EARLY.. they open the gates at 0730 and traffic from London normally comes down the A27 from Brighton, loads from Midhurst too.. Then the A3 captures the traffic from West and brings that along the A27 from Sotty/P'mth and so on..
Main area is the bit between southern end of Chi where the roundabouts are will be just blocked up, going through town is a mad idea cos' thats tiny streets too.
Take a flask and some cake an MP3 full of tunes and just mingle inthe que.. like the locals do..
Sorry but it's mad busy.
The A27 from Havant ( bottom of A3 ) to Chi is approx 8 miles long .
On Friday it will be backed up a couple of miles , on Sat maybe 4 miles . All queueing to get round the 6 roundabouts between Chi and Goodwood .
Best to go A3 , off at Havant / warblington , then Emsworth rd A259 to Chi , and pop out near Tesco. Only if you are coming from the westside tho
Check the on the Pistonheads forum, there's a section on there devoted to 'Goodwood Events', plenty of info ref what route in to use, which car park, whats on at what time etc etc.
Well it wasn't too bad after all, went down the A286 and only took an extra half hour overall, in Sainsbury's for breakfast before 9. Coming home was a different story but that was the M25, over 2 hours from A3 to M1! Bloody road.
Lots of interesting stuff heading towards the FoS. Anyone going enjoy.
