My first trip to the festival of speed, got Saturday tickets, is driving there as bad as I would imagine or is access pretty good? Any tips from regulars appreciated. Am based in the midlands so M40 A34 my logical journey down.

Hope you have a good time. I went last year and loved it. I travelled from Manchester the night before and got a pub B+B about 15 miles away from Goodwood...up and out early to get there handy. The local lanes and villages are well signposted for FoS, but it does get busy. The main parking is a big field and does get a bit busy trying to get in to the site. I'd suggest setting off as early as possible to get there and parked up and make most of the day.

Take some ear plus if you're sensitive to noise but otherwise enjoy the sights, sounds and smells!

Set off 3 hours before you need to be there.

Chichester bypass and the Midhurst road are always busy between 8-11 & 3-7 on a normal day never mind FOS weekend.

You'll get in, have you been allocated a carpark? There are 3 or 4 situated around the site, some close to the house within walking distance, some are about 1/2hr walk away.

Anyway, follow the signs from whichever direction you're coming from t find the carpark on your IN route.

take a bike in the boot and park in Bognor. It's 15mins on the bike or up to 2hrs in the car. Traffic can be absolutely bloody awful around FOS. Locals like him and me have learnt to avoid the place at peak time.

The train and bus service is also very good.

I've been several times, it's generally brilliant, but I usually get blind drunk so I may be biased.
