Longest river in the British Isles is a good one.

Tests both your knowledge of rivers and finds out who actually knows the difference between the British Isles, Great Britain and UK...

There was a good question I heard recently (on here I think).

What is the first country you come to (not including the USA) when you travel south from the city of Detroit?

What was the name of the heroine in King Kong? Everyone will know the actress from the B&W movie - Fay Wray - but few will know the character name.

Another one I like is "Which is further west, Edinburgh or Liverpool?" First it weeds out those who know east and west, then there's the double bluff element, then finally everyone has a 50-50 chance anyway. Just as pub quiz questions should be.

Oh, and of course, Full suss or hardtail?

What was unusual about Andy Hampsten's gears?

Who's the biggest tool on stw?

I did a quiz at work recently....I asked everyone to submit questions (legal - we're lawyers - personal, and a music track to identify), it worked out pretty well...

Who is the most recent undisputed (ie holds all the belts) heavyweight boxing champion of the world?

Put the main boxing weights in ascending order of weight, here they are out of order: Bantamweight, cruiserweight, welterweight, flyweight, heavyweight, featherweight, middleweight, lightweight

I can see Alaska being East and West but South??

EDIT: Ah, ignore me. "Hawai'i has the southernmost geographic center of all the states. Florida has the southernmost geographic center of the 48 contiguous states
"

Do they have to be the answer to the questions we posed? or just random answers. That would make an interesting quiz.

In the sports round of a quiz of which I was a participant we were told there was a trick question; everyone assumed it was:

Q: What game's name is four letters long and starts with a T?
A: Golf

How very droll!

Turns out that was a red herring - the real trick question was:

Q: What is the longest race run under jockey club rules?
A: The University Boat Race!!

Might be complete bollox - never bothered to find out 🙂

Yes.

"Professor Hans-Henrik Stolum, an earth scientist at Cambridge University has calculated the ratio between teh actual length of rivers from source to mouth and their direct length as the crow flies. Although the ratio varies from river to river, the average value is slightly greater than 3, that is to say that the actual length is roughly three times greater than the direct distance. In fact the ratio is approximately 3.14, which is close to the value of the number pi... The ratio of pi is most commonly found for rivers flowing across very gently sloping planes, such as those found in Brazil or the Siberian tundra."

I know but that makes it too easy.
Just say you can work it out when you ask the question.

Tests both your knowledge of rivers and finds out who actually knows the difference between the British Isles, Great Britain and UK...

Bonus points for the largest lough/loch it runs through, deduct points for answering the Severn.
