We're off there for the weekend next week, for the bonfire on the beach and general seaside fun, and the restaurant we were going to go to on Saturday night is shut. Any recommendations for good places to eat>? Needs to be in the town itself, no interest in driving anywhere.

Ta!

SWIM is on the seafront, has a relaxed atmosphere and good food.

Hix Oyster House is more upmarket but great food and seaviews.

Tierra Kitchen - Vegetarian restaurant in town, very good.

Uprising Bakehouse in town by the mill - relaxed and very good for breakfast and lunch.

We've always liked the Town Mill Bakery (now renamed "uprising" it seems) but this is the most recent comment on Trip Advisor:

The bakery is closed down for the foreseeable future. A sign in the door says that it has been sold. Was a nice place and enjoyed our past meals there, Turkish eggs being our favourite.

A real shame :-/

There was a nice pizza place at the top of the high street on the left hand side as you walk up which served simple, fresh pizzas at a decent price served by an owner who never stopped talking. We all rather enjoyed it đŸ™‚

Avoid the fish and chip kiosks on the sea front - they were all shit and would get laughed out of town in the North. I mean, frozen chips? Are you having a laugh?

Hix is a clear winner, but expensive. They used to do a good deal if you ate super-early. Something like before 7.

Other than that there is a chippy, and a trendy burger joint on the sea-front staffed by useless millenials who say "not a problem" in response to everything.

We had a very tasty lunch at Tierra Kitchen, can recommend it.

Tried to book into Tierra Kitchen for the Saturday night but they're full up. Got a table booked at Poco Pizza in the end, which also seems to get good reviews.

Might try for lunch at Tierra on Saturday or Sunday. Cheers all.

The restaurant at the Alexandra was nice as well. Lovely setting, lovely family run hotel. His is an amazing setting and obvious pedigree. There was also a pub up near the cobb with a small entrance right onto the beach that was nice for food.

Town mill bakery was ace for breakfast. Shame if it’s closed.

Apparently town mill bakery in Lyme franchise is up for sale so they ca; invest in new ones in Plymouth and poundbury.
