Been having a wee issue with a dashcam in my van.
Seems if it isn't receiving enough power the rear camera doesn't work.

I'm trying to power it via USB cable via a 3A transformer hardwired in, and getting nowhere. Works fine with the supplied 1A power supply that goes in the cigarette lighter socket though. Have tried different USB converters, different dashcams, different rear cameras etc

Have tried a few different USB cables but can't get one to work. Don't have a huge number to experiment with as it's a USB Mini B connector.

So... does anyone have any tips on good quality brands of USB cable that are good for charging?

Aye, but it seems Anker don't do a cable with this old-ass connector on it - as I would have gone for them too!

Ewww

I think old (like my Hero 4???) Gopros use those so you might find a GoPro branded cable that should be decent quality

My money is on the transformer being the issue if you’ve tried various cables….

Good shout on the gopro cables

Have also tried the cables in the same USB dash charger that charges my phone with "fast charging" so don't think it's the transformer

Is it definitely 5v and not a 12v camera just using a usb cable to supply the voltage?

+1 Amazon Basics. Their rechargeable batteries are ace too.

I’ve got some Amazon Basic USB-A > Lightning and USB-A > USB-C cables, and they’re really well made and heavily built. I have a couple of 3-metre Lightning cables for powering my iPad when I’m sat on the couch, the power-supply is the other side of the room, so it needs something substantial.
