I read an article recently where many reputable ( supposedly) UK suppliers had their oils tested and many were well under par so I would like to ask if there's anyone in the know who could recommend a source that can provide decent quality CBD oil at a good price.Happy to buy from abroad if savings are substantial. I Should really grow my own and learn how to get the good stuff out.I don't want to get high for me it's about sleep improvement and reduced anxiety.
Finally ..just another question.I see for some conditions the recommended CBD dosage is very high perhaps 1000mg a day.How on earth can people afford that?

it’s about sleep improvement and reduced anxiety.

I thought the evidence was that cannabis increases anxiety and depression?

Why not try and workout what stress is causing the issues rather than just covering up and compounding the problem?

THC can increase anxiety, where as CBD can reduce it.

Not tried it myself but a stoner friend is using CBD oil (15%) and rates it.

Yep just read some more, and some research does show positive effects. However doesn’t look as though clinically proven yet, though I am happy to be corrected.

IIRC the various clinical studies use very high doses, well above anything you can easily buy.....

It's not cannabis, cannabis is high in THC and low in CBD. CBD itself is very different to THC. I do agree that there is a lot of self medicating of issues with CBD at the moment which I don't agree with but it if people really find it useful then go ahead.

OP - You could buy CBD flower and make your own oil, if you buy it in larger amounts it is cheaper and you might be able to get what you're after although you won't be able to guarantee that there is no THC in it (probably under 0.2% though) or what strength it is.

If you are suffering from anxiety or have issues with sleep then you should also go to your doctor if you haven't already.

The whole thing needs regulating really but I suspect that when that happens the government will ban its sale instead. See https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49082533

It may be worthwhile reviewing your lifestyle and keeping a diary of what you've been eating and drinking. If you're taking other meds could they be an issue ie taking too close to food, tea or coffee. Have you had any recent blood tests done, if so where do the numbers fall within the range. Don't just accept 'everything's fine', you need to see for yourself. Scraping along at the bottom of a range doesn't help neither does not absorbing which often gets overlooked. Magnesium could be worth a look at.

As someone who struggles with sleep I do sympathise. fwiw I sometimes use melatonin and 5-HTP patches, alternatively melatonin pills or herbals.

I appreciate the advice but I have suffered insomnia, anxiety, depression for 30 plus years and been on meds, exercise a lot, meditation. Yoga, mindfulness ..the list goes on.but so does the problem. I have recently been sleeping better and am taking inulin daily ( see Michael Moseley study ) .I have also added a few drops of CBD sublingually for the last week and certainly feeling and sleeping better. I'll try anything tbh as these issues have caused me to become an alcoholic ( now tea total ) being unable to relax despite what the NHS have tried with me. It runs in the family .My brother's a well respected Doc and takes the max dosage of amitriptyline daily and has done for decades otherwise he doesn't function well either.

Cannibis and everything that goes with it will be legalised as soon as there's a friendly goverment that isn't scared of curtain twitchers.

There's too much profit in it for it not to be.

Have a look at simply-cbd.co.uk. I know two people who purchase from them. Profits go to a dog rescue place too.

Kaiser - There seems to be some doubt as to their legality for import but you can buy them online from UK sellers. Normally delivered in smell proof packaging and I have never had an issue, PM me if you want any recommendations to buy from.

You can also buy things like chocolate with CBD online, might be subject to the same issues as oil but it seems to work well for anxiety.

I bought some of that muck as recommended by a STWer, to help with sleeping.
Disgusting tasting shit you put under your tongue and made your whole mouth feel like an ashtray. Didn't do anything else, except probably gave me halitosis.
This - https://www.lovecbd.org/product/300mg-dutch-cbd-oil-spray/ I would recommend ... AVOIDING.

CBD brothers - The purple one is good. Get it online for cheapness.I tried it during a tricky phase at work and it help me poker face through some very tricky meetings. It's also good for long stressful journeys.

I've got to laugh at anyone suggesting a trip to a doctor for a man dealing with anxiety is a good idea. He'd get told to man up and given some manky chemical script at best. Doctors are not at all good at such things.

... You could try pyschadelics for anxiety. There's evidence that shows they're very effective when treated with respect.

I don't think CBD is a cure all, it has helped me deal with occasional stress situations quickly and effectively without draining NHS resources or wasting time. You can laugh it up if you want, that's cool. I hope you find an easy way to deal with Anxiety if it hits you hard.

footflaps

I always come back to this, as it makes the medical cannabis market in places that have it (US states, Canada etc) seem rather iffy.

Still, if it works for individuals then they should be able to source it.

The LoveCBD entourage oil is very good. I tried another premium priced one from another UK supplier and it wasn't so good.

If it makes you feel better about yourself to sneer at a natural herbal product that shows real promise in helping some people with certain issues, knock yourself out.
While you’re at it, you might also like to have a go at the use of Psilocybin and other psychedelic products for treating depression, aspirin, derived from the bark of the willow tree, for treating pain and, in small doses, heart problems, and tamoxifen, a drug derived from the bark and leaves of the yew tree, which is a potent treatment for certain cancers.
All genuine, 100% mystical natural snake-oil, according to you.
I’m just thinking to myself, ‘jackass’. #rollseyes.

As much as I've taken the piss in the past, this was good advice.

To the OP, I work in big pharma - we have a pretty good system called GXP (Good manufacturing practice, documentation practice, laboratory practice etc). In my experience the QC/QA of CBD oil is either non-existent or terrible. I've seen enough things that would scare the general public despite the ridiculously tight regulation that we work to, I'd really hate to think of the crap that goes on in the market you are looking at.

I wouldn't touch CBD oil with a 10 foot barge pole - and that's coming from someone who has tripped balls in Amsterdam and spent his university years hanging out with people who abused ketamine.

A melatonin prescription is a good shout, it's not harsh and well tolerated. I hope things get better, if you are really having trouble with sleep see a friendly GP - a lot of them are really understanding in regards to anxiety these days. Also, I'm sure people on here will listen to what's keeping you up at night.

+1

I also work in the pharmaceutical industry, albeit in IT, but I've seen enough here to put me off buyin some untested nonsense of the internet under the guise of "organic" or whatever. I'm pretty sure for every 1 company out there doing this legit, there are another 99 that's putting all sorts in their eye droppers.

Kinda like the Vape thing "well it must be safer inhaling the steam from these unknown chemicals than it would be smoking cigarettes , I mean it tastes of Cherry"

I know a few people who use cbd brothers. It's good for nervous system stuff like fibro myalgia. & also anxiety. Try asking your doctor for some. After all, the tories were blowing their own trumpet about making it available on the NHS.

Thanks for all contributions .I've tried melatonin and it didn't have much effect unless I took a whole 10mg tablet and even then ,combined with sedating antihistamines ..sometimes I still had insomnia. The melatonin also made me feel rough the next day. Re the generalised anxiety ..as mentioned.. tried most therapies/ meds to little avail.Did mushrooms when I was young but would be wary of psychadelics again unless supervised at my age! I've seen the recent trials using mushrooms, ketamine etc ..interesting stuff. I'm currently feeling far more chilled after regular breathwork to stimulate the vagus nerve and recent research is beginning to show it may be very helpful for many conditions....You may have seen the NHS are starting to use a hand held vagus stimulator for severe migraines..and with apparent success.
