Any recommendations for pubs in the Peaks at which to have a pub lunch, in the Hope/Ladybower area? Looking for your proper delicious homecooked food pub grub. Cheers.

The one at far end of Edale was good a few years back, not the one by the Station.

If we are popping out for food, we tent to head for one of these:

There's plenty more to choose from.

Castleton has a good choice.

The Old Nags Head - that's a cracking pub. Pies are superlatively good.

10 mins up the road towards Sheffield in the car, but Fox House is excellent (gets busy though)

the fox house is awful.

It's a get 'em in, get 'em out commercial chain pub with pretention to be classy.

and the bar staff are rubbish.

I've always found the bar staff helpful and friendly Pook. Had one bad experience where the meal took an age to come and we were given all our drinks for free - considering there were three of us there for over 2 hours this was more than a token gesture!

This.

If your are at Fox House then you are in the car so head to the Cross Sythes on Baslow Rd about 10 mins away. Brillant poshish but not too expensive pub grub. Nice beer too.

Not really near Hope/Ladybower though so no help to the OP.

Ladybower Inn itself does an awesome feed. My new favourite pub out that way.

Scotsmans Pack in Hathersage also very nice.

If you go to the Cross Scythes you may as well head down Hillfoot Rd to the Crown Inn - legendary Meat and Tattie pies and other good home cooked food.

Cheers
