Came across a guy jogging with his bike early this morning. Stopped to see if he needed any help. Turns out he'd snapped his chain and buggered his tool trying to fix it. I had a couple of quicklinks on me so had him up and running in a minute. Hoping someone would do the same for me in that situation 🙂
Good on you
Lots of moans on here about miserable riders, but it's very rare that I have had a puncture or a mechanical and passing riders haven't checked I was OK. I try and do the same in return.
Not much use last week with the poor couple on the tandem who's hub brake had jammed up near Wirksworth. My multi tool doesn't include s 10mm spanner 🙁
Only riders who've snubbed a 'morning' have been roadies, and that's only the odd one. I always check to see if anyone needs a hand. It's no fun having a 15 mile walk home
I taco'd my SS chainring once, exactly half way home on my commute in winter. 8 miles of walking in SPDs wasn't exactly fun.

The reward for stuff like this is doing it. Sorry!
(I stopped for a broken down motorbike on Friday, it was a model I knew and turned out to be a really easy fix, bad fuel line- worth it just for the look of bemusement on his face as Motorbicycle Repair Man appeared from nowhere )
Well done for doing something positive 🙂
You are already getting your pay back, you just don't know it yet.
And I was going to say MTFU, expecting pay-back from eating a Korma.
Then I read it again.
I like to think that when I help someone it goes down as karma credit - you never know when you need to cash that stuff in, but at some point it will be needed. Chapeau to OP, Northwind for the assistance

Karma = not exactly inner peace as it is just something that you sow and reap.
Sow good = reap good. Sow bad = reap bad.
Karma pays back in 3 ways:
1. This life.
2. Immediately after this life i.e. the next life.
3. Sometimes in one of the future lives.
😀
or, it's a myth 😛
I once helped a guy with a puncture who was pushing his bike along a cycle path late at night. He didn't have tools, and didn't seem confident, so I fixed it. Just after I'd finished, I noticed he had a bit of blood on his face, and asked. Turned out he'd crashed and got the puncture and then some because he was pissed.
Me, inwardly, as he hopped on the bike with a cheery thanks and rode away in a slightly wobbly line: "Oh, f*ck". Hope he got home okay :/
Well karma looked after me this afternoon. Went to Evans at the Trafford centre to pick up a hoy bonaly 24 for my sons birthday. Took the parcel shelf out in the car park to slot the bike in, and promptly drive off without it. Didn't even realise Til we got got home 40 mins later. Called the shop and explained. Guy went out to the carpark. Not only was it still there, but it hadn't been driven over either!
Thanks karma 🙂
