It's for a rental property so just needs to be basic and solid.
Any advice/duffers?
Sub £300 so looking at Hotpoints, Indesits, et al. Standalone in white.
We bought a Zanussi a few years ago that was about £340 or so. Touch Wood - it's been fine, clothes go in stinky & come out not stinky and it hasn't fallen to bits yet.
The cheaper ones, just seemed to have less load capacity & fewer features like time delay.
Whatever you buy, don't get it from Dixons - there are usually mad good deals to be had on the interweb by comparison.
*looks in kitchen* -we have the catchily-named Indesit IWB6123, white and fairly basic but seems fine for the £220ish we paid for it a year or two ago.
ukwhitegoods is a website worth a read.
I tend to see what they advise then buy it from John Lewis.
Which for our washing machine was a Zanussi which has been fine for 3 years so far.
I got an Indesit 1600 spin which has been pretty good to date [touch wood]. Cost under £200 4 years ago
imho, the new hotpoints and indesits are the worst things on the market, get a beko or a lg, i tell my friends to buy a beko from currys cheapest one they can find and take out the 5 year warranty, cheaper than most makes pretty reliable and with the warranty no worries for 5 years no matter what goes wrong , it is a great warranty,,even if its your fault its covered and no i work in the industry but not for currys
john lewis own brand FTW.
basically they are the same as Zanussi or AEG, except that you have less choice over colour, more washing programmes to choose from and they cost less. oh, and a 5 year warranty.
