For a private car? Unless there's something odd about your insurance needs I'd suggest no one.

(speaking as a motor insurance underwriter)

If it's something spectacular then footman james or adrian flux are the big ones, some small local ones like 1sure might be good too.

I suppose it depends what kind of car, but the three I keep going back to are:
Adrian Flux - decent quotes on Jap import, plus fair to deal with when stuff happens
Competition Car Insurance - excellent customer service, and do quite niche cars at very fair prices
Elephant - consistently the cheapest, assuming the car is in their database

Elephant aren't a broker, they're an insurance company, in fact they're a trading name of EUI Limited, along with Admiral.

My problem is that I have 11 years NBC but it has expired 3 years ago so I need some specialist help.

Brentacre. Insure my t4 with them and can't recommend them highly enough... Be awesome this year with extending insurance whilst abroad.

What have you been doing in the last three years? Some insurers are pretty helpful if they think they're going to get a sale.
