Ah! None the wiser.

Are you after independent burger places or main stream?

Independent for preference as they tend to be better

Yup. Not that I'm of any use as I've not been to London for about 15 years.

I came in for the recommendations. 😀

We have a Byron's in Newcastle they're very good indeed I still prefer the independent one near by though.

I had the Bourbon Vanilla Shake. It was damn good.

I'm a lifelong veggie so I can't say if my brother is correct, but he raves about Elliot's Cafe in Borough Market.

Byron are good.
If I can tempt you away from burgers, the ribs at Blues Kitchen are incredible.

If on the North side, then I can thoroughly recommend The Betjeman Arms in St. Pancras station.
Excellent burgers, along with every other food I've tried there. Not too expensive prices. On the South East, outer corner of St.P station.
If you are driving, then you may struggle to park in the area though.

I'm heading down a few times on the next few weeks so following with interest.
The Meat Market in Covent Garden is good, has a Triple D feel about it.
Honest Burger was OK, bit small and somehow over moist...
Patty and Bun outside Liverpool St station is a good for a quick takeaway
Although a chain I've always enjoyed the Gourmet Burger Kitchens.

Hi , as a former hipster from dalston, the best burgers are from Lucky Chip

http://luckychip.co.uk/

They used to sell them as a pop up (of course) at the sebright arms in bethnal green, but now I think they have joined the chattering classes in islington. I truly mean this, they are the best

I'm a bit of a burger connossier and my favourite is Patty and Bun. Near Bond Street and Selfridges. Can't book and gets busy but the burgers are amazing. Tommis Burgers on Thayer Street (nearby) is also good. If they fancy something a bit grimey but cool (teens may appreciate it) then Meat Liquor on Welbeck Street is worth a look. Byron OK but food at the others better imho
Burger and Lobster also worth a look - burgers are good but pricey, but my 8 and 10 year old both chose half a Lobster (same price) and loved it!

Don't forget Hache on Inverness street. Near Camden town tube. Was there a few weeks back, their southern belle burger is glorious!!

My vote goes to Patty & Bun, their 'Smokey Robinson' burger & Rosemary fries are delicious.

Limited locations though...

Was it Pitt cue? If so then fair call. It was awesome but its now closed.

If not then please try and remember, I'm on Soho on business next week and fancy a meaty lunch!

Five Guys.

There's one near Leicester Square.

Goddamn delicious. Great chips too.

Please don't go to Byron or Five Guys over some of these suggestions, whilst good they are not on the same level IMO.
Bleecker St Burger, just a food truck but oh so good.
Honest Burgers, these are all over. Rosemary chips are like crack.
Patty & Bun.
Stokey Bears.
Mother Flipper.
Meat Liquor.
Dirty Burger.
Dip & flip.

Oh and perhaps the BBQ place was Bodeans in Soho? Though suppose it's not on the outskirts.

Ok,
Honest Burger - Soho (dean st I think)
Bodines - Soho Poland st (the pork bbq I mentioned above)

Both fantastic burger restaurants. I consider myself a bit of an expert

Except their burgers are a bit mediocre and not a patch on what you would get from Spuntino, Meat liquor etc. If you do go there then the burnt ends are quite good though.

A friend has told me that there is a Tommis Burger Joint in London now. An Icelandic chain, last ate at one in Copenhagen and they are good, simple and well priced. Get milkshakes.

Maltby Street Market does hands down...the best burgers I've ever had.

You'll just have to batt away hipsters in the process of getting to the stall.

I'd heard great things about Bodeans but found it very mediocre. There's usually a great street food market on Brewer Street at lunchtime and Soho Bikes is nearby too if you want a nice coffee and to ogle at the bike porn.

The whole time Honest Burger and The Ribman have their limited edition collaboration on offer, I wouldn't even consider anywhere else!

Forget Byron and Five Guys.

I had a Lucky Chip burger at the Seabright Arms a couple of years ago, it was incredible. I've tried a few others since then including a cheeky Patty and Bun recently. It didn't come close.

How about the Red Dog Saloon and having a 'Devastator Burger'?

[img] [/img]

'18oz chuck steak, 200g pulled pork, 6 rashers applewood smoked bacon & 6 slices American cheese'

What could possibly go wrong?

Byron Burger is awful from what I've had of it.

Red Dog is good, Honest is also good but my heart is with Patty & Bun.

Big Fan of flip and dip sandwich...but still not a Chicago Style Italian Beef.

Well STW. We went to the Ref Dog Saloon in Hoxton (Byron next door). Over an hour to get a cold burger. Countless excuses. I'm disappointed. Back to Byron for me.

Consider this a warning STW, let's not have it happen again.

Weird, ended up in Red Dog (Soho) in the end and it was great, one of the best burgers I've ever had. Not cheap but few things in central London ever are.

Maybe they were having genuine issues the day you went.

@picton, Hoxton. There's your problem, full of right-on hipsters too bothered by their image to work a decent shift ?

@hatter when you consider the cost of London commercial property rent and rates the price of the burger isn't that bad.

Went to Red's True BBQ in Shoreditch last night. Amazing burgers, especially the Pit Burger - 2 patties, burnt ends, brisket, bacon, cheese, onion rings and "dirty sauce" in one disgustingly big pile of cholesterol and gluttony.

It was amazing.

(I did wake up at 3am with meat sweats and the run to work this morning nearly killed me, but hey, I would have died happy)

Came back to this thread yesterday as was going to London for a gig. Went to Dirty Burger in Kentish Town yesterday. Great meaty burger, lovely fries and decent milkshake. Good recommendation and looking to visit again. Did the Rosemary fries place last year - was great too.

Wasn't that impressed with Byron when I went. £9 for an ok smallish burger served on its own. Jaipur was a nice surprise though.

Ah, but have you tried the burgers from The Beefy Boys in Hereford? Their Butty Bach Burger won the World Burger Championships in Las Vegas.
