I was doing th'ardrock and like the past couple of years, we booked a cottage in the village for a few extra days to make it a mini family holiday.

Confirmed today that we're still going which I'm pleased about. I guess the local economy is going to take a big hit with the loss of the festival so we should still go and spend a few quid.

In the absence of riding on Sunday, I've booked the Forbidden Corner (never been before.) What can people recommend for another family day out? We've got a three year old with us. Did Richmond castle last year.

And should I still take my bike!?

We're travelling up tomorrow and staying for a week, I'll be taking my bike just in case anything is rideable.

Enjoyable day - just bear in mind that the bridge between leyburn and Grinton is out.

Go to Hawes and eat loads of free cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery

Then head to Middleham Castle followed by brymor and your body weight in ice cream.
Richmond Castle is good, the walk to the Abbey is nice and the station has a nice bakery and brewery.
Bit further afield the Bowes museum and other stuff at Barnard Castle

Your not far from hamsterley forest if your still taking bikes. It's missed the rain that hit the dales further south

There’s Richmond Live music festival this weekend too. Lots of fun for all the family, especially if you like The Lightning Seeds.

Just seen there's some sort of Lego display at Bowes museum so that might be a winner 👌

The Reeth to Richmond road is still closed apparently (my brother is up there now). There is a single track road via Fremington which detours the washed out road but they don't want people using it as it's single track.
