A plastic panel on the outside of my car door has come unstuck and rattles as I drive. Looking to glue it back on before it dissappears down the motorway. Problem is its sticking plastic to metal and the two parts don't sit perfectly flush.

Any suggestions on a glue or adhesive that will bond to both and also fill / bridge gaps?

I'm thinking something thick and soft more like pva than thin and brittle like super glue.

I used gorilla glue to do this as a lazy fix. Doesn't fill the gaps but it holds well.

Clean meeting well with IPA, then use Sikaflex or Tiger seal.

Unless you ever want to get it back off again.

Some of the Sikaflex adhesives stay tacky for a while.

CT1 would be better but it's harder to find, haven't used Tiger Seal though.

Couple of self-tappers?

Could you replace it with carbon fibre?

Wouldn't solve the problem but imagine the lightness

Lots of variants of Sikaflex, Stixall is a similar product and cheaper.

Cheers, it's just a bit of trim on the front door that acts as the window surrounding, might need removing if the glass ever needs replacing and self tapper would look pants there.

Go to Halfords and get some double-sided foam tape sold as 'number plate fixing tape'. It doesn't seem that sticky when you apply it but it develops and becomes super sticky. But can still be peeled off with persistence.

Perfect for the job and water etc resistant since it's aimed at number plates. Unless you need some actual filler, it's not clear.

3m double sided foam adhesive, the stuff that car badges are stuck on with.
Stacks on ebay - usually very sticky and a bugger to get back off
^^^^^ Ah - I see Molgrips has already mentioned it ^^^^^

That tape sounds perfect, I don't need filler as such, just that parts don't touch each other all the way up, just the edges.

Araldite (it's holding the plastic trim on my OH's Fiesta)
