During the strictest part of the uk lockdown co2 only fell 12 percent iirc approx according to the news.thats with no cars,no planes and much of the commercial buildings stopped.and without the need for home heating.where does the 88 percent come from. Thought it would be higher than that.any ideas.

Every bugger shopping like mad for tat they fon't need and getting amazon deliveries doesn't help.

There are loads of CO2 sources and climate change is only one of many extremely serious environmental dangers that we face.

Yet there's a strong resistance to lifestyle (amongst other, necessary) changes which will be needed to hit the minimum targets.

We're a dumb animal and it's my firm belief we're not going to survive long enough to leave the planet and populate the stars - we'll bring about our own extinction by one means or another.

Anyway. Happy Thursday.

the whole world wasn’t in lock down and the world is also round - it isn’t the same season or climate everywhere. Some parts of the world will have their heating on, some will have their air conditioning on full blast

Does it not take a very long time to come back out and be reabsorbed ? A few months wont be long enough to change much. Also not everywhere came to a stop.

Which would be true every year.

Loads of plants can't just stop. Steel work for example. Concrete I don't know if it's possible to stop. These big industries can only slow down.

Power generation will still be massive too.

Car and plane journeys might have gone down but leccy consumption will be up. Netflix/amazon/Disney+ bandwidth probably went up by a substantial amount, plus all of those logging in to WFH. All those servers don't run on magic..

c02 production? c02 in the air? c02 as a by product of hot air generation on forums? As a statement alone it is meaningless, perhaps a source so we can understand what the measurement is in context.

Well soon everyone will be back to buying stuff and flying to places that need aircon - so I imagine any drop will soon be made up for.

Get out and enjoy the trails before they turn to dust / swamp.
