Anyone had these in there house?

So I'm sitting at the table this morning and hear a noise..look up and see something move in the gap above the washing machine and work top.

Have a closer look and get a glimpse of a glis glis..

Pulled the washing machine out, nothing..
Pull the kick boards out from the kitchen units...nothing.

1 hour later, see it again in the same place going for the peanuts I've planted..go closer and it's off..

Little while later and I hear something in the cuboard, open it up and take some bits out and see this cheaky little face peering over some bags looking straight at me.

Offered it some apple and it disappears into the cavity that has the waste pipe and pipes from the bathroom. This cavity extends to the loft.

Neighbours kindly let me there trap they used when they had them.. but even with the apple in its not falling for it..

Any tips on how to catch them?

Might take time to become accustomed to the traps, try adding a bit of honey to the apple as they love the stuff.
Great little things, aren't they? (until the telephone goes dead due to chewed wires)!

No idea how to catch them but they're lovely creatures. In other mouse news, harvest mice have returned to my home village after 25 years (reintroduced by local farmers): http://www.gilbertwhiteshouse.org.uk/2016/01/harvest-mouse-returns-selborne/

You can make your own homemade humane trap and bait by placing sausage meat, oregano, chopped apricot and chopped walnuts in a saucepan - you can then use the same pan to serve your stuffed Glis Glis alla Romana with crusty bread and some salad.

Yeah my mrs wants it Gone asap, but I'm not in a rush to get rid of it as it's lovely...
Wonder if I can eventually get it to feed out of my hand...it's quite happy letting me open the door and looking at it from a couple of feet away..

IIRC, Trapping requires a licence, only certain types of trap permitted - since you've now plastered it on the Internet, you may want to stop and check the legalities.

GLis Glis does indeed require a licence to trap them as they aren't technically a pest species. They aren't as invasive as house mice and don't breed as prolifically so a licensed pest controller should be able to get the situation under control fairly quickly. I'd get professional advice if I were the OP.

If it does get into your trap, it's illegal to release it so you may want to think about what you're going to do with it. You really need a professional or a cat, or if you know anyone with a Jack Russell I gather they can be quite effective.

Edit: some advice here.

This setup cleared my dad's house of house mice within a week. Whole buckets full of mice every morning.

Get the council in. They'll do it. For free*.

We tried for ages with various traps and poisons. One visit from the Ratman and they were gone.

*Probablyy.

Had a look in the loft this morning, can't see any tell tale signs of there presence up there..
But the one under the sink has gone...
A long trail of nuts and apple out the patio door did the trick..

Was that trap just a sign with "Go and live next door!" written on it? 😆
