We had to hire a car, for two weeks, at no notice (I.e. walk in) a couple of days before Christmas at Glasgow Airport. These are evidently the most hideously expensive circumstances. The Hertz bloke priced it up, saw our faces, and said 'to be honest, Europcar will probably be a lot less, so I'd try them'. So fair play to him for that. And Europcar were excellent. So I recommend Europcar.

I'll only ever use the proper hire companies. My sister in law used one that picked her up from the airport, took her to their office where their cars were, and then kept her deposit for six months.

Arnold Clark pretty good. Price and car are good, but staff can be (likely unintentionally) hilarious.

We've had a lot of problems with Europcar in work, they have a real habit of billing you for 'damage' whilst producing absolutely no evidence. Possibly just a commercial issue, absolute ****s to deal with though

It's pot luck - so dependent on staff and stock available at the time.

As above - Arnold Clark. Not sure if they have an office at the airport, but if you can get into town (buses are cheap and frequent), then they are worth a look. Good rates and plenty of cars.

We booked the smallest car possible from Enterprise.

Asked if we'd like to upgrade for a fee - No
Asked if we'd like to hire a SatNav for a fee - No
Got given a car two classes above the one we had paid for with built in Sat Nav because they didn't have anything else anyway!

I've only used then three times - Glasgow, CDG and Faro - so my experience of them is somewhat limited, and perhaps not good grounds for a recommendation.
