I'm looking to head into Glasgow with the lad tomorrow to see some of the things around the city as a pal said there were plenty of things to do for the kids, particularly around Glasgow Green.

Having a look at the events, the cycling time trials are on tomorrow, which the route shows finishing in the Green itself.

Does anyone whether that will affect access to the park and the things that are within it when the time trial is on ?    Would be good to be able to see some of the TT and also the stuff in the Green.  Thanks.

The park will all still be open (would be a bit weird to keep folk away), but wouldn’t even consider driving in if you’re thinking about that

The atmosphere in the Park will be great, infact the whole stretch from George Sq down through Merchant City and east to Glasgow Green is like a big Carnival, so definitely worth going, though no cars advised. Will likely wander down from the office for a gander at some stage tomorrow. Off to Cathkin in an hour with the boys to watch the men’s MTB, and then City centre on Sunday for men’s road race.  Was at track Thu and Sat and was amazing.

Its great to have all this happening on our doorstep !

There's a large chunk of it fenced of for some events in there, there's a gate in the saltmarket, not sure if you just walk in and that's just security, would imagine so.

Might take a walk over for this myself tomorrow.

Is that televised anywhere? (actually i'm assuming this is on the tele somewhere in general, I've not turned the actually tele on for a few weeks!)

From George Square heading east is always like a carnival, it's the closest I've ever came to the pub in Star Wars.... 🙂

Fisha, Glasgow Green was ace on sunday for the women's road race, loads for kids to do too.

how long do you think they'll leave that course taped off? Still be there in the morning?

Couple of bits are different, not millions, they're coming back up through the trees' as well, stay'd away from the up to the car park, few other bits and bobs, some grassy bit as they do on these races. tbh I probably recognised it all and will be able to pick out the course, it's not that different, just think it'd be cool to have a shot of it within the tape! 😆

Good race, looked good on the tele I thought. fast rather than technical.

1.33.01 for 6 laps minus a minute for the first loop, says about an average 15m:20s for a lap of it for the winner. I'd no doubt struggle with that on my ebike! 😆

Was at the track on Friday.  Great seeing team riders riding out to the veldrome in their national kit and riding on aero wheels.  A good few rainbow journeys "commuting" too!

I am not quite on the TT route, but a few grumbling sounds about it from some locals.  A lot of cancelled doctors appointments or days lost wages seem to occur for an event publicised over a year ago!  There are a couple of villages effectively blocked off and an entire Glasgow suburb to be honest, but I think there has been a lot of consultancy going on.  Don't let that get in the way of the moaners however, when world class sport passes their  doorsteps.  A vocal minority I hope.

There's been quite a bit of wild nimby-ism from what I can tell - guy in work (West End) moaning that he's going to have to take a day off as his regular bus is cancelled... despite the fact he could get the train instead...

Has anyone seen a start list for the TT or the road race? Can't find a list of the riders other than the GB team one:

Men’s Road Race

Adam Blythe (28, Sheffield)
Mark Cavendish (33, Isle of Man)
Mark Christian (27, Isle of Man)
Owain Doull (25, Cardiff)
Luke Rowe (28, Cardiff)
Ian Stannard (31, Chelmsford)
Ben Swift (30, Rotherham)
Scott Thwaites (28, Wharfedale)

Men’s Time Trial

Alex Dowsett (29, Essex)
Harry Tanfield (23, North Yorkshire)

Women’s Road Race

Lizzy Banks (27, Sheffield)
Alice Barnes (23, Kent)
Dani Christmas (30, Surrey)
Anna Henderson (19, Buckinghamshire)
Nikki Juniper (36, Essex)
Abby Mae Parkinson (20, Yorkshire)
Dani Rowe (27, Southampton)
Sophie Wright (19 Norfolk)

Women’s Time Trial

Hayley Simmonds (30, Redditch)

There was some right bawbags moaning at Marshalls on Sunday, cos they had to wait 10 minutes to get to their next braindeid shop.

Fannies.

The Cathkin course was really good to watch. The route was based on the one we used for the sxc a few months ago, with some tweaks. Removes quite a lot of the 2014 course and has a lot of new stuff, which thankfully held up well as weather was kind. Taping was all lifted within 2 hrs of last racer crossing the line. Dog walkers will be relieved 😜

Nah, it’s something to do with the trail closure certificate that means it has to be cleared in a certain time.
