Anyone know if you can give blood after receiving immunoglobulin? Is immunoglobulin even from real blood? I think I'm Oneg, and that would appear to be a good thing
Cheers all. X
If you've received a transfusion (ever I think) you're not allowed. OR at least that is what I was told. I recently was stopped from giving blood because I'd had a mild stomach upset a week before, despite the fact it had gone 😯
If you have ever received a transfusion of blood or blood based product then you are no longer able to give blood. EVER! All because of CJD risk.
What they said Paul ^^; IV immunoglobulin is pooled from multiple blood donors (about a thousand) so your out.
Gah 🙁
Not that I doubt the information provided but it is so important that all capable of giving blood do so I would check with NHS.

I gave blood for 20 years but I have now given up. The appointment system doesn't work for me because of my job. the last few times I had to wait well over 90 minutes before they even saw me. I explained this to their help line but I feel that this system will not change due to the cuts being forced on them. Shame because I felt it was my duty to give blood but now it feels like a business rather than a volunteer service.
I answer to your question, no you can't give blood if you've had a transfusion.
I tried last week, but my vein just wasn't putting enough into it - felt like an abject failure 🙁 It would have been pint 15 too. Still, there's always next time!
I like the appt system, it seems to work better than when I went with my mum and just waited for a slot.
