I have my 50th birthday coming up – I am a lifelong rock/metal lover but aslo quite open to other stuff too (I like everything from Simon & Garfunkel to The Damned, Eminem Pharell Williams, Blur, Blondie). Pretty much most genres I guess.

Anyway I am having a house party so I was going to create an Amazon Music playlist just for background music (ie, there won't be any (intentional) dancing planned). We have a huge range of ages coming (from my own friends through to teenage nieces and quite a few primary-aged children (about 10 I think) as well as my pensioner in-laws.

So - can anyone suggest any tunes that will be suitable for a wide range of ages – I don't want it to be too biased towards my main love (Sabbath, Maiden, Motley Crue, QOTSA etc) so strugglign a bit knowing where to start (bearing in mind I want it all to be upbeat party music).

km79 is sick and needs immediate medical help.

You'd get away with 'Paranoid'. (By the Dickies of course)

and judging by your ahem, taste, you'd get away with a Amazon curated playlist 😉

10hrs long so no need to switch songs.

Also don't be afraid to play the classics...

Hmmmm everybody knows Grandma loves Gabba.

The young people dance to this at the local discotheque.

I don't know. You now know about Gabba, Splittercore and can upgrade your experience with Extratone, I'd say your life has been enriched.

A thank you would suffice.

Haha, got my 50th party coming up shortly. Got my nephew to mix me a playlist with some proper 80s school disco dancing tracks for the evening. Doesn't really fit with your personal favourite genre but might be a couple on there that appeal. I will be adding some 70's and post 80s tracks to the list to keep the party going a bit longer too.

Town called malice-Jam
Come on Eileen-Dexys
Don't you forget about me-simple Minds
Jump-Van halen
Why-bronski beat
Thriller-Michael Jackson
You spin me round-dead or alive
Tainted love-soft cell
Night train -visage
Shout-tears for fears
Young at heart -the bluebells
The boys are back in town-thin lizzy
Never gona give you up-rick ashley
nelly the elephant-toy dolls
bad manners-the cancan
madness-baggy trousers
2 tribes-frankie goes to hollywood
i ran-flock of seagulls
prince 1999
proclaimers -500 miles
wham-i'm your man

I was asked to come up with a couple of hours of pure cheese for my sister-in-law's wedding.

https://open.spotify.com/user/hutchm/playlist/2qal7d8s3ZIfcoDbvq260o

Dunno if you can open it, but might work. Probably needs some more stuff for the nippers. CottonEye Joe on loop should do it. 🙂

Without poppers and leather arseless chaps, it's not a real party anyway

To be fair getting your haircut isn't an inclusive thing for Brian Connelly.

Stan Ridgeway - long time since I have seen his name mentioned. I quite like him / Wall of Voodoo but I think he'll be a bit obscure for a party.
