I want a project to brush up my skills. So if anyone has any ideas for a website or application that they want created, I'll do it and we can go 50/50 on the proceeds 🙂

Let's get this right. You are a code monkey but you want someone to give away half of their big idea? Surely the % split would be a fair reflection of the input needed as a share of the potential overall value of the project.

For example, if I had thought of Google, I wouldn't expect to pay someone 50% of proceeds just for coding it. I would rather pay a contractor 5% as a project.

Or is that your big idea? Try to catch someone out and get a huge fistful of money for doing next to u**** all?

😉

Oh dear. If you weren't a "code monkey" you wouldn't have thought of google in the first place. Like most good inventions it was not the result of some marketing droid's fevered imagination.

You want a project? How about a website for BT Customer Complaints?

One that can handle more traffic than all the porn sites in the world...

You could set up my sons primary school website if you're wanting to "brush up" on your skills, there will be no fee tho.

I have a fantastic idea for a website. Truly great, with the potential to go global.
But, there is a real reluctance to mention it to a single soul in case I get ripped off for my 'intellectual property'.
I know nowt about how it all works, but I need to find the right people to learn from and to help in progressing it.
Are you one of these people?

Clough -that isn't my point. Google was an example, but it could just as easily been that student with the £1,000,000 web page idea (buy 10 pixels of advertising for £10) - made him a small fortune for almost no work and he thought of it one night in bed. The point being, you don't give away 50% of your idea to one person whose only input is building a website.

Sure, MikeT.

I'll sign whatever you want. The 50/50 quip was tongue in cheek 🙂 Just need a project to brush up on, but if you've got a genuinely good idea I'm in.

You might. It depends on how much work the development is and what your relationship is going to be going forward. If I was going to be the CTO of a startup and be responsible for realising an idea I'd want something substantial. If I were just knocking up a quick site for someone I'd still want a stake but nothing major. In any case, I'm not greedy 🙂

Molgrips

I'll speak to a couple of trustworthy gents re confidentiality clauses. When that's done, can I just page you on here?
What's a typical fee structure for this kinda work?

Mike, email should be in profile (I'll check now). As for fees, that entirely depends on what kind of business you are running or hoping to run. If you want a chat, either O29 2O38ll4O at work or O7967 59ll74 at home (or in the day if you want secrecy).
