the whole peloton are suffering here 🙂
hard ol' sport bike racing
the second shaving from Remco kind shows the DQS game plan..... stay as close to pink as possible and take the shirt the final TT
Jobs a good 'un.
another wattage bazooka
Rest Day.

Stage: 11 Perugia > Montalcino 162.9km
gravel 40% chance of showers

Really wish I was able to take the day off to watch today's stage live.
Last stage was really satisfying: just to see Bora execute their plan perfectly resulting in Sagan bagging an increasingly rare win. I started watching road cycling the year he started notching-up TDF wins, so he's the first rider where I feel I've witnessed the whole main sequence of their career.
Thanks also to those contributing to this thread for the Never Strays Farfalle tip-off. Lots of fun.
Simon is not too keen on todays stage
think the big teams will want riders up the road here to get cars ahead of the peloton for the gravel
breaks being given a long leash..... 12:40 with 107 to go.
Ineos happy for that to happen
no reason for them not to though really. Not their job to care today... That was Sagans job.
getting edgy in the peloton, though bike exchange still mooching about at the back.
seems like the rains holding off for the moment
Ganna is a bit of a beast, 700W on gravel! Plus 2 minutes from the break gone all ready.
new shorts for Ganna
This is getting a bit tasty.
Evenepoel got caught out there too. Seems the new Brailsford exciting attack mode has been engaged.
gruppo compacto
ganna poppo
loving this 🙂
that's a horrible climb, hate variable gradients
Remco doesn't like the gravel, gone....
Yates shirt undone doesn't bode well
EF look strong
Simon Phillip Yates hanging in there...
what a race
Remco goes pop
Bernal being a bit feisty now.
Edit a classic stage.
I's looking like Bernal's to lose now, he's looking incredibly strong.

tense dinner table @ DQS, Remco will have to attack now so good for us.
Remco was a weird one wasn't he, he lost the wheel and lost everything, but then after that seemed to recover really well once he was 2mins down and hang in there and lost very little in the last few km... but at the time he popped, he popped hard and i thought he'd lose more. Credit to his team mate for coming back to save him though.... that's a tough side of cycling when you have to do things like that.
It did look like he'd gone completely, so he must have dug deep.... gutsy stuff
Seemed that Remco was really uncomfortable on gravel descents. He said in an interview earlier that he didn’t think gravel should have a part in road racing. I would have thought a Belgian would be ok with slippery surfaces but clearly not.
He didn't like it thats for sure (Neither did Yates, but from the vid ^^^ up there they were well chuffed!) I'm sure if he wasn't coming back from injury he would have done Strade Bianci to get some experience in prep for that stage.

I heard that - already showing a negative mindset, and offering a weakness to his rivals to attack him with (although I assume they'd know it anyway)
I'm a bit mixed. I wouldn't support putting in a MTB stage or even a proper CX, but gravel roads are still roads, and IMHO less of a specialisation than TT'ing. He's not complaining that there's a big TT to come is he - wonder why?
Nice shot 🙂
not looking good for Soler (crash).
Ominous for Soler riding in front of the broom wagon

DQS look keen to get someone up the road
De Marchi has had an issue! looks nasty
Early start today, must be a long one
LOL Moviestar car gets caught motorpacing Soler 😀
gruppo compacto 45k and still no break
mmmmmm chianti
total chaos in the peloton
the Pink jersey stretching out his back
It's sounding like another fun stage 🙂
mmmmm more chianti
rammed

and the heavens open.... horrible potholed road 🙁
at last

what it takes to make Moscon look like a fool 😀
another day another break makes it
was a beautiful stage even if the gc was dull
Brambilla and Bennett need to have a word with themselves after yesterday.... silly pair of sausages.
Today looks like they have found the flattest section of Italy. No reason to watch it all, I'll catch the Orla and Sean show later on. Hope the riggers boots are on again today #strangest!
"No reason to watch it all,"
?
Any chance of crosswinds?
Ganna vs DQS to split the peloton?
sub 10 mph head wind all day
Highlights it is then
tomorrow is going to be brutal, the cigars will be out today
Ooooft, that's always a game changer... INEOS and Bernal to kill the race off i think.
25% into a 16mph raining headwind feels like 0 it's going to be carnage.
nothing to see here....
I remember having a lunch stop at the bottom of Zoncolan during a torrential rainstorm, 5 days into a 7 day road bike holiday, with Zoncolan being the planned activity for the afternoon.
We put the bikes on the van and drove to the hotel. In our defence we'd done Giau in a similar rainstorm and Grossglockner in the snow earlier in the trip.
Should be a fun watch, but terrible to have to ride.
190 k to go break of 3 has gone and the cigars and brandy out in the peloton, might have do some work 🙁
some pretty pictures and local flavour
todays grauniad cryptic crossword....
Cyclist of note about to sell his pants (4,9)
Well I've got the answer, but not entirely sure why!
his birthday today
Cyclist of note<mark> about<ca from circa> to sell<vend> his <ish anagram of his ie pants> pants (4,9)
yawn
Moscon made to wear his badges of shame 🙂
WTAF! boooo hiss
I won't feel too sorry for them tomorrow if the weather does turn nasty 😉
That is a win I can get behind. “What we’re you aiming for today?” “Second”.
The lads got a sense of humour!
