Live Aid - was working that day. Had I known the magnitude of the event and understood how it would change the music industry, I'd have thrown a sickie.
We missed the bus to Manchester to go and see Bloodhound Gang in either 1999 or 2000 and decided to go to the pub instead... although I'm not sure I'm gutted we missed it!!
A Day to Remember are playing in Brum on valentines day. A band I'd love to see, but it aint happening.
Missed Killswitch Engage this year because I was skint too, although I saw them 10 years so not so bad.
My son and a friend are staying with me for hogmanay in Edinburgh. They really wanted to see the 1975 but they're supporting the Pet Shop Boys and that's not the bag of any of us. Instead, we'll be in front of Django Django and Chvrches - should be fun. If anyone is looking for tickets, I may have some spare as I seem to be rather incompetent at ordering from the net while pissed.

None, musically I've found nothing but disappointment from gigs. Live the skills are pretty much always worse than on the released music, they wander off on annoying jaunts into their creativity which end in nonsense and they're usually sound mixed poorly and too loud. I've made a new years resolution to stop disappointing myself and just buy CDs and listen in my controlled environment lol

I'm actually going to try to go see more live music this year as I always love it and it always makes me want to get a band going again. If I go to enough then I'll just be forced to do that 🙂

Seen them three times since they reformed but have always been a tad annoyed at that one.

What can I say? I've only ever seen two gigs that were "good" - one was The Verve homecoming gig (undoubtedly coloured by it being held in my town, having gone to the same college as they did and working at the venue lol) but they sounded identical and support acts were great. And they split up shortly after. The second was Tenacious D, not because of the music but the theatrical accompaniment. Everything else has been out of tune, badly mixed guff. Went to see Awolnation (love their latest album) but in the venue it was massively distorted and reverbed at a whole host of frequencies which destroyed it. Goes to show that few bands are actually any good, they require a studio and a LOT of time to fix their issues before it reaches a CD,and those that are often get destroyed by the location.
Would have killed to see either Michael Jackson or Queen live, I suspect they would have been worth every penny. Music, to me, is apurely listening exercise, not a group euphoria experience.
coffeking, I am with you mate. I like nothing better than my fave music on the stereo or headphones where I can have unfettered listening without drops in quality or winkers stepping on my toes. The beer is cheeper at home too.

summer '82, The Clash were playing at Bradford St George's Hall. Couldn't be bothered to get the bus up from Wakefield to buy a ticket. I don't think they ever toured again after that 🙁 not properly anyway
I actually got tickets for one of the Michael Jackson gigs but then he went to sleep and never woke up.

I doubt that very much, massive venue, packed with people not really into music. Utter crap. IF thats your idea of a great gig no wonder you've had nothing but disappointment.
Gigs are fantastic. Smaller the venue, the better.
Only thing that ruins them these days is dicks who don't know how to "remember" an experience and stick their stupid little screens up in your face every few minutes.
Bad habit of mine was to look at lineups of festivals I'd been to, torturing myself about not seeing people I hadn't heard of yet 🙂
Years ago had a choice as two gigs on the same night. Beastie Boys or NIN. Told my lass at the time it was her choice. She picked NIN. Grrrrrrrrrr

My god there are some miserable people around here. Some of the greatest experiences I have ever had have been gigs (and that is saying something).
That aside, I never regret not going to certain gigs as I always have my reasons for deciding not to go, so what's the point in regretting that?
Despite a tip off from my mate on both occasions, I managed to miss both the Strokes and the Libertines at the Louisiana (tiny Bristol venue - 200 covers-ish) which would have been ace. Missed the Killers at the Fleece and Firkin (another small Bristol venue) on the Hot Fuss tour, that would have been epic.
Have been lucky enough to see Streetlight Manifesto 7 times though...

Complete bollocks. You're obviously an obsessive perfectionist who can't allow the slightest deviation from the original recording to spoil your enjoyment of that recording.

The whole fricking POINT is that the live experience is different to the bloody record! Otherwise there is no point.
I've only ever walked out of a gig once, because the headline act I'd paid to see had been shunted to support, the main act being 65daysofstatic. And they were just really dull.
I truly can't count the number of gigs and live performances I've seen over the last forty-four years, including thirty five at one Reading festival, and thirty nine in one year.
I've very, very rarely been disappointed, and more often been left breathless by the talent there in front of me performing songs that I love.
And, sometimes, being able to meet those people afterwards. They say that you should never meet your heroes. Well, I've met a few of mine, and they've never been anything other than really lovely people, especially the bloke who I saw in a venue holding a couple of hundred people, and who had written, or co-written, some of the biggest selling songs by the Eagles. Smashing bloke, he was chuffed to bits I took along his 1976 album on vinyl, and the CD version, for him to sign.
Really looking forward to the next year of live music, by the Paper Aeroplanes, Eddie Reader, Half Man Half Biscuit, Elbow, Goldfrapp; and that's just for starters.
Oh, and I saw Goldfrapp twice last year, and the Paper Aeroplanes.
The one that got away for me was Muse at the Edinburgh Venue, which apparently was the 18th of February 2000. I took the piss out of them, went to the aftershow ffs, didn't go to the gig... 5 months later, saw them for the first time at Reading and they were amazing. And then, they jumped the shark. Ah well.
Agree with count zero, the worst gigs I've been to have been bands that sounded just like the cd live. And the raconteurs.
Reel big fish were disappointing, very accomplished, like watching a music video. Level 42, epic.
I had tickets to see Serj Tankian about 5 years ago. Due to someone messing me about with transport didn't get to go. Gutted.
BUT. My daughter went with her uni mates to reading about 4 years ago. She rang me up to ask whether she should go and see Kings of Leon or.....

I told her Faith No More. She went, it was awesome apparently (I watched it on TV - Eastenders Theme whistled by Mike Patton - oddly brilliant). Her friends went to a very disappointing Kings of Leon show, they were gutted...

I'd suggest you're easily pleased and susceptible to group hysteria. 🙂 I personally like what I like and don't want to hear it altered by artist or location.
I am somewhat perfectionist and a little obsessive. Its a good trait, it leads to things being done better, though it does mean I'm rarely happy with things.

On the contrary, I'm far from miserable and love music, but I get my greatest experiences from different things (genuinely can't imagine how you could to be honest). If gigs do it for you, that's great for you, but to me they are overcrowded, over-rated, ill sounding wastes of time.
