Saw Young Fathers a few months ago at Trinity in Bristol - probably around 600 capacity. Jaysus, they were ****ing good. Off to see them later this year again, this time at The Academy - think that’s a 2000 venue so will be a little less intimate and I just know it won’t be as good but looking forward to it all the same. Also picked up some tickets for The Dead South but that’s not till next year. Missed their gig at Bristol Uni a few weeks ago - not bloody missing them again.
Saw David Byrne last night. Fantastic stuff. Well worth seeing in the autumn when he has arena dates.
Just booked my tickets for Fields Of The Nephilim in Manchester in October. Looking forward to that, they hardly ever leave the confines of the M25
GnR at Download the other weekend were a bit of a disappointment; when they were good they were fantastic, but it's fair to say they're a band with around 70mins of material trying to fill a 3hr slot. Also Slash and Axl clearly still hate one another and it seems that they need a stage as big as Download's so they can keep as far from one another as possible. Shame really.
Still there were plenty of other bands on, Babymetal and Powerflo being particular highlights.
Next big gig is the Foos on Friday, and as well as the RAH PSB gig, I've just got tickets for "A" at Norwich Waterfront at the end of the year! Never thought A would play again 🙂
Pearl jam last night were awesome, when my mate said he’d sorted tickets I wasn’t expecting to be sitting on a transit case just behind mike mcready’s guitar rack...
#humblebrag 😉
Mono on Friday at QEH,
65DOS were excellent there last Friday night.
Missed the PSB tickets at RAH when I logged on there were 6 tickets left in the entire building. (:
Saw Young Fathers supporting Weller @ the BIC couple of years back - they were indeed very intense. Not really my bag, but they certainly put in a shift and were doing their own thing, their way. Worked for me live (was right at the front) but didn't make me rush out and buy the records.
Dinosaur Jr were epic. Only just hearing again.
Now, here's a thing. Saw Ed Sheeran at the weekend. He really was very good indeed. That is all.
Well, it isn't - I'd say its the first 'pop' gig I've been too (maybe REM qualify??) but the guy knows his craft - one guitar and a looper entertaining tens of thousands, as if it was a pub gig. I knew most of the set by osmosis but was really interesting how he constructed the layers and mashed up his own and others songs, making something a bit different.
What is it with people though that can't last an hour or two without an armful of food and drink?? IF it's such a problem, why don't they stand next to the frickin' concessions instead of going back and forth all night?? Swear it was the same 4 people....
What is it with people...
You've got me there 😉
(Can't even watch a gig without getting the phone out and making a shit video!)
David Byrne tonight, should be interesting as always.
My Bloody Valentine tomorrow - looking forward to it!
Mono on Friday at QEH,
Nice. They are a bit good.
My Bloody Valentine. So loud they hand out earplugs on the way in. Loudest gig I have been to ever.
