Hardly recognised him with hair in that Sampdoria pic. I just had a copy of the book ‘Golazzo - The Football Italia Years’ delivered in which I expect he’ll play a big part.

RIP Gianluca

What a player!
He built a great team at Chelsea, bringing some class players to the Prem.
Rip Gianluca.

A great player and seemed like a genuine nice guy. We could do with more of those. A sad loss.

RIP

A thorough gent from what I know. Pity there aren't more like him in the game.

what a class act..... and yet another to pancreatic cancer (Terry hall & Frank McGarvey both died from it recently)

I remember him at the World Cup in the USA when he just shaved his head because it was too hot 🙂

Classy tribute from Sampdoria too:-

People forget that when he moved to the Premier League he was one of the first superstars to come and then many others followed him. He was different as he was just past his career peak whereas many others just came over for the easy money and quickly faded away. His signing had a huge influence on the league's perception abroad and he was obviously a massive success at Chelsea as a player and a very young player-manager. People forget how young he was in that role.

The Mancini-Lombardo-Vialli axis was the driving force behind that amazingly entertaining and quite successful Sampdoria team of the early 90s.
