Well if there is only one good thing about the coverage it’s that I’ve discovered Sharon van Etten
Agreed.
Well if there is only one good thing about the coverage it’s that I’ve discovered Sharon van Etten.
I’ve got her to look forward to at Green Man this year. I dunno, I guess I’m missing something as all my fellow travellers are creaming themselves over her playing but I just don’t get her. Maybe it’ll be good seeing her live. Massively underwhelmed by the Green Man line-up this year. Father ****ing John ****ing Misty my arse. 😀☹️
Killers suit the big stage. A bit "American" but I think it's good.
Killers, excellent
Both the headliners this year have been superb. For the first time in about 20 years I wish I'd gone.
Kurt vile and Sharon van Etten are long time favourites of mine, so it was a tough choice on the live stream as they were on at the same time. Figured Sharon more likely to deliver the ‘wow’ factor and I wasn’t wrong, cracking set, was hoping she might win some new fans with that performance as it seems she has ^.
Enjoying killers now, not in the least ashamed to admit its jolly good fun, very well performed and Ronnie’s always fun to watch on drums.
Been out had beer. Come home turned TV on, Killers are really good. Sometimes life is just that simple.
Looking forward to a bit of Hot Chip at 11pm.
**** yeah!
Chem Bro’s doing it for me, much as I love hot chip & a bath full of ecstasy pretty much anytime of day I’m in a chem bros attitude at the moment
Chemical brothers absolutely awesome again!
Over on the killers Saturday night entertainment show it’s gone a bit Vegas but f@&k it it’s great!
brilliant!
I'm kind of embarrassed to admit I'm still a massive Smiths fan, given Morrissey's descent into being the worlds first vegan gammon, but the songs and guitaring still stand up!
Killers set was brilliant... Must have been incredible for both them and the crowd.
I remember last the time they played the pyramid stage and I thought the sound was a bit lacking (could have just been the TV production) - Def not the case this time!!
Hot Chip - Sabotage !

I ain’t a fan of the killers, and maybe it’s a location situation but he has that huge crowd in the palm of his hand and I truly wish I was there with my daughter right now!
I really don't like the Killers. But my brother made me go and watch them when they headlined T in the Park in 2007 and it was absolutely magical. Every so often I watch the video Exitlude/redoing the back half of When You Were Young and it still gets me, and that was like 12 years ago. I hate them for it but it's probably my best festival moment.
(though I will deny it if anyone ever asks. Definitely not as good as the Foos at Reading man, or System of a Down in a lightning storm at Donington, or firewalking during the riots at Leeds...)
'Killers set was brilliant… Must have been incredible for both them and the crowd.' Too right. Chemical Bros looked on top form from the glimpses I've seen/ heard.
Hot Chip Sabotage made up for them not doing Dancing in the Dark 😂
Gutted I’m not there, but what a choice to make, Killers, Hot Chip, Chemical Brothers or the Wu
You must be as old as Hawkwind! 😆
Hurry on Sundown (actually I've never seen Hawkwind but did see the Pink Fairies at Canterbury Tech refectory when I was a student there).
I had no intention of watching "Glasto" on the telly-box but accidentally ended up watching quite a bit. Loads of surprises for me - Janet Jackson quite entertaining and Neneh Cherry pretty dull, for instance. It's all very slick with lots of well-rehearsed dancers and session musician backing though. A long way from Stacia, or even Bez.
Yesterday I turned on the tellybox (not a common activity for me) and Low were playing. It was wonderful, for one song, then they cut to something else and I switched the tellybox off again.
edit: the whole set is on the iplayer. sweet.
I watched Fontaines DC and Mattiel on the iPlayer last night. Both very strong sets. Gonna check out Interpol and Sharon Van Etten later. Radio 6 have been playing her stuff for a while and if anyone saw The OA on Netflix, you might recognise her as she played Rachel.
Chemical Brothers on loud now thanks to iPlayer.
🕺🏽
Saw them trying out that set at eden on fri night. Was proper good.
Wow. All the closing acts last night were amazing. And still The Cure to come…
Pleased to have discovered the talents of Georgia on Fridays coverage. Turns out she's one of Leftfields daughters. A one woman band and i have now downloaded some of her stuff and will look out for her live.
Not sure what my fav set has been so far?...too many to choose a favourite from.......Jon Hopkins.....Chem Bros......Hot Chip......Idles.......Fontaines DC, at the moment id have to say Kate Tempests set from last night is up there as it kept me transfixed throughout - she's a bloody genius.
Worst set i've had the misfortune to hear?, that has to go to George Ezra, just what the **** is the point of his anodyne ****ing drivel......and his voice?....ARGHHHHHHHHH.......... just make it ****ing stop....i'll admit to anything.....for the love of god just shut the **** up.
Thought Tame Impala were excellent
Anyone else think Kylie is miming?
In her interview she said “i’m shitting myself”
🤩
Weird- sounded like she was for the first few but then definitely live

Yep. My three year old agrees with you as well. She particularly liked elephant. She says we'll go and watch them tomorrow, she'll sing the song and I'll wave the flag 😎
Nice one somafunk you are doing it properly. Weljel.👍😉
Anyway Kate Tempest for pm imo.
She is amazing. Jon Hopkins has upped his game and I totally agree about mr Ezra. I’m sure his mother loves him.
Anyone else think Kylie is miming?
I think the sound production have screwed up + her mike doesn’t appear to be right. Result was it sounded hashed. Got better as it went along though
Miley Cyrus was lucky not have some buggers eye out! 😳 she’s, erm... moved on a bit since my daughters were watching her as Hannah Montana, hasn’t she? She can sing though. Way better than Kylie.
Anyone else having problems with getting the BBCred button menus up on their Skybox. I really wanted to watch Mavis Staples but it’s not having any of it
Miley’s dad looks in good nick...
The whole Black Mirror becomes reality thing is confusing.
Anyone else having problems with getting the BBCred button menus up on their Skybox. I really wanted to watch Mavis Staples but it’s not having any of it
Yeah it’s useless this year. I’ve been using iPlayer.
Jeff Goldblum doing Jazz piano, perfect sunny sunday evening...

This.
Red buttons been given the red flag I reckon.
Jeff... now that’s another artist I wanted to see.
I’ve still got four artists on my list to catch up with 👍👍
Got to love the variety.
Kamasi Washington on West Holts.....unbelievably good. Looking forward to Janelle Monae on the same stage shortly.
stab vest is a banksy piece
Chemical Brothers set especially MAH is my Sunday night wind down.....
Sharon Van Etten is badass. Be still my beating heart 😊
Flippin' eck, Robert Smith isn't ageing well...mind you it was 1982 since I last saw them playing live
Aah the Van Etten, I would challenge anyone alive to listen to her first album "Epic" and not be absolutely blown off their chair by it!
He is 60 and those are rock n roll years!
Not wrong with his voice though
My god, The Cure are fantastic. The band is flawless and his voice is perfect
The bass player is trying too hard though.
Kamasi Washington on West Holts…..unbelievably good. Looking forward to Janelle Monae on the same stage shortly.
Looks like a lot of fun on the west holts. Anyway see that billie illish girl, she's only 17 I think got the whole world in her palm
I watched them headline in 90. Where did the last 29 years go!
My god, The Cure are fantastic. The band is flawless and his voice is perfect
I loved the music from this era, the Disintegration album, and some of the more obscure stuff (Carnage Visors, anyone) and I have to agree the playing is flawless, but if you aren't a fan it has to be quite a tough listen.
The bass player is trying too hard though.
He's always been a show off, but see that flag draped over his amp.....that gets him off anything.
The Cure are absolutely bloody brilliant!!!
I’ve just sussed out that I watched the Cure headline Glastonbury 29 years ago, and I now feel as old as Robert Smith looks
Robert Smith looks like a junky version of Herman Munster.... but they sound good for their age!
The bass player is trying too hard though.
Does he have some form of spinal deformity? Seems to be struggling to stand upright.
Not sure there's a pulse in the crowd... they seem dead beat! too busy flying flags.
Christine and the Queens have just started on the other stage, but I'll be damned if I can find them on the shit BBC service.
They're great - a bit different to fat Bob's stand there and sing songs approach.
(I was also there in 1990. Not denting this STW middle aged demographic rumour are we?)
Anyway see that billie illish girl, she’s only 17 I think got the whole world in her palm
I thought she did great. Especially as they were having technical problems.
Cure bassist is a big mountain biker. Read an interesting article about him in the comic a few editions ago. Big Orange fan. Apparently and understandably the band's management aren't too keen on his hobby!
Probably accounts for his posture!
Not my thing musically, but they are tight and for a 60yo Robert Smith is sounding good, albeit the echo is doing him a favour.
Just like Heavan is the 80s.
Loving The Cure.
The bassist will be on here later, checking on your feedback. He’s a massive Orange bikes fan, no 🍊?
(I’m sure you read the stw article a few months back?).
Brilliant, just brilliant.
Lost none of their characters, and none of their musicianship.
😘
I know Orange are long, low and slack... but his arms are around his ankels....
Just like Heavan is the 80s.
1987. Dinosaur Jr spanked the Cure version so hard the same year I think the Cure now pay them royalties every time they play it.
The dinosaur jr version is fantastic.
There’s a record shop in my town called vinyl store jr btw 😂
A forest was bloody excellent.
Just hoping for a strange day or a hundred years.
The bassist will be on here later, checking on your feedback
I'm sure if I put the till on the floor of my shop rather than on the sensible height of the counter comments would be passed.
If they were derogatory I would have to say, "fair point."
Was Janelle Monae doing cover versions of discarded Prince tracks?
Yeah..
Was watching this boring bollocks as I thought that any minute now they'll do a brilliant "She sells sanctuary"
Then I remembered it's the the wrong band.FFS😁
The Cure are doing a faultless performance. Band are super tight and Robert Smith's voice is amazing for a guy his age who's done his fair share of hard living. I saw them in 95 at Finsbury Park, great gig that was.
trouble is comparing them to the big crowd pleasing sets of Stormzy and Killers. For the people that said the line up was weak, the headliners have absolutely nailed it for me but in their own way. Killers was a proper stadium rock thing with guests and glamour. The Cure have been musically fabulous and of the three, actually my favourite musically.
But Stormzy was head and shoulders the performance that'll live long in the memory. I was a bit pissed but the gospel bit nearly had me in tears.
Christine and the Queens on BBC4 now
Christine and the Queens on BBC4 now
Outstanding
Added to my Spotify favourites
" I watched the Cure headline Glastonbury 29 years ago, and I now feel as old as Robert Smith looks"
+1.ha.
The Cure were chuffin brilliant!
We've enjoyed watching quite a bit of Glastonbury over the weekend promoting the kids to ask why there's not more festivals on the telly. It's a good point, I'd much prefer to watch some music than some of the endless reality type stuff that's churned out.
Vinyl store junior. I'd start a record shop just to use that name!
The Cure were astonishingly good. like has been said the sound was amazing.
Simon Gallup deserves special mention as an MTBer. He's probably out riding this morning down Glastonbury tor before the tour bus leaves. Reeves Gabrels on guitar and shred duties too, I forgot he'd joined
I'm so glad they played a barnstorming gig as it showed up some of the dross beforehand
best thing about glasto is that the full performances will be on Iplayer without interruption and no rubbish intro from a halfcut DJ talking nonsense 🙂
