Asking on here as I can't process the information on the GNR website - I am running this year and planning on staying at the Newcastle City Centre (The Gate) Premier Inn. How easy is it to get to the start line from there? Is it walkable or would I need to get a Metro?

Cheers

Do a shit before you set off to walk to the start. Don’t bake it thinking you’ll have it in the start line toilets.

Dippy the Diplodocus is on display at the Great North Museum. Tickets are free but should book in advance. Discovery museum is free. Centre for Life has stuff on too. All of those are in the city centre which is quite compact.

Thank you.

Bloody Premier Inn has somehow managed to sell out overnight FFS so ended up booking in at Travelodge City Centre which is (apparently) about 4k from the start line so now need to work out how to get there.

The Quayside Travelodges or fairly close to each other both near the central station so a metro ride to the Haymarket has you on the doorstep of the start.

Your also close to the Science Museum, Center of Life and Lane 7 for bowling.

Food wise.

Fat Hippo for amazing burgers near the Theatre Royal, Dabawalla for good Indian food also near the playhouse around the corner from the playhouse is Stack which has a variety if independent food places and you can sit outside each will bring the food to your table from there unit.

Near the travelodges is Sachin's for fantastic Indian food just amazing, over try Tyne is By the River Company which is similar to Stack it has independent food places, I've not been there yet but it's highly rated. Use the swing bridge to get to that.

Basically though walk around the quayside and streets nearby there is a wealth of food places.

Oooh Kaltur for Tapas they have 2 one near the quayside.

Newcastle isn't that big but it's condensed so much in it and really quite stunning.

Cheers Drac - Indian food would be perfect as I love it. However I won't be having a Ruby the night before a long run 😉

Good point as it may end up leaving a long run.

Be careful if you have a Yellow number. I had one and didnt know what it meant until I got to the startline and stood at the very front with 20000 people behind me. It was a fast opening mile!!
