Looking to get to Italy with the Mrs and our 1.5 yr old, for first week of Sept (w/c 5th). Can't find flights from Manc for much less than £450-500.

Any idea where might be more reasonable? Was hoping for post school holiday prices but still seems pricey to me.

Just after a bit of sun, some good food and somewhere interesting to wander around.

Suggestions welcome!

Drive! and make the journey part of the holiday with stop-over in france or switzerland.
Sorry can't help with cheap flights. Try searching for flying for other airports you could drive to

We went a couple of years ago to watch the Italian GP in Monza. We struggled to get a cheap(ish) flight from anywhere in the NW/Midlands. It was cheaper for us to fly from Gatwick with an overnight in a Hotel the night before.

I know its a drag, but try Luton, Stanstead etc. I had to go t to Sardinia last year nd like you, from Manchester it was £400. I flew from Luton and it was abut £180.

Good luck with it.

I just looked up ez to Manchester from Spain sep and it's about double what I usually pay. Problem with mcr is lack of competition, there's only ry and monarch on the route.

You could wait but ez are struggling, I heard yesterday they were taking a 40mn hit on unhedged currency so I doubt we ll see any heavy discounting this year.

I saw that holiday bloke from the Indy on the TV this morn talking about the Polish Riviera in the second half of August onwards being cheap as chips and beautiful.

Hi,
I'm confused. Is your price per person or for all three of you (2 effectively)?

Just found Manc to Milan for £172 Saturday to Sunday from my usual provider. That's not too bad is it?

Could you be more specific about where in Italy you want to go?

You can blaim all the Brexiters for the weak pound. 😉 For north Italy try Munich or Innsbruck and hire a car from the airport.

Drive +1

And stretch it to 10 days or so to make it worthwhile

Driving to Italy sucks. Why would you want to waste time doing that?

Fly to MXP with lufthansa for £342 for the 3 of you... what's the problem

As above, drive down to lovely picturesque Luton. Cheaper flights are mid week and can anti-social departure times but your little one will likely sleep through the whole thing. And does it have to be Italy? easyJet will do Barcelona for about £200, though infants have to sit on your lap for that price.

Croatia is excellent and bits of it are touching Italy.
Dubrovnik is at the other end and is a good place to explore and eat.

Croatia is basically Italy but cheaper and with better beaches.

Try Jet2.com Leeds-Bradford to Nice and drive from there - Nice is only about 30 miles from the Italian border - nice drive along the corniche via Monaco. If you're flexible with dates you can travel from £40 each way
