Travelling over to the UK end of next week but how is it getting back to Dover for my ferry home?
Pictures of trucks stacked on the route to Dover, is there a car lane or something for non freight vehicles?
Any advice or should I prepare for sleeping in the car?
Without wanting to jinx myself, as we've yet to make the return journey, last Sunday we did Dover to Calais with minimal delays. It's the poor lorry drivers that seem to be the ones facing a two day wait in traffic.
Freight Traffic is in a different queue to tourists
I did Dover to Calais on Saturday.
Actually getting to the ferry port was ok, only slightly longed than usual.
From the ferry port entrance to the French border force booths took 2 hours, then from there to the Irish Ferries checkin booths took another 2 hours.
Was booked on a 4.30pm ferry, eventually sailed at 9.30pm
What's it like coning back? I'm heading out Newcastle to Amsterdam next month but coming back Dunkirk to Dover, any delays at the French end?
I suppose anything could have happened by next month though!
Looks like traffic has been bad this week. You don’t have to queue with the trucks but they close part of the motorway for them, I’d plan for some delays.
Edit: that’s for Dover, no idea about the french side.
Heading back to Kent from the west, there was slow moving/stationary traffic not long after we got on the M2 yesterday afternoon. Presume it was the same on the A2 but thankfully we did not need to go that way.
