Picasso and Google photos seem to have conspired to make it extremely difficult to find and share my photos so I need a new free thing to replace them. I tried Photobucket but have used 30% of my quota without getting 1/3rd of the photos transferred.

What does STW recommend for use with a laptop, android phone and occasional iPad use?

It there any clever way to get the photos across other than downloading and uploading the all individually?

I moved from Google to Flickr. Does the job.

Suspect manual download and upload is your only option for transferring everything...

Instagram or Flickr I suppose. For christs sake back them up offline also though...

Auto back-up from phone to Google photos, then any I want to post on here I upload to photo bucket because I can't figure out how to do it from Google photos.

I've not yet figured out a good way to do it from my phone, but on a PC (probably also a Mac or Linux) go to http://picasaweb.google.com navigate to and open the photo you want (auto-backups are saved in "Auto Backup" folder in date sub-folders), click on "Full screen" (to the left just above the pic), then right click "Copy image address" and you have a link you can paste here:

Quicker and easier than uploading to photobucket if your photos are already backed up on Google.

That picasaweb workaround will stop working in a couple of months.

Not necessarily, they're not completely turning off Picasa, just some features, and viewing your current pictures isn't one which is going.

Hopefully if and when (or preferably well before) they do stop that working they'll provide a better way of hotlinking direct from Google Photos - I can't believe they haven't been hassled about it.

You should be able to download all of your photos from Google Photos here: https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout

The Flickr Uploadr tool for Windows/Mac OS will let you do a bulk upload. https://www.flickr.com/tools/

Ditched flickr a while back, since they're the ones usually messing around and creating more GUI usability issues by throwing a load of JQuery at a problem that wasn't there. Backed up by even this very forum having several threads asking where they've move the share button too this week. Not just flickr, but every product that Yahoo provides.

All on Goggle Photos now. At least it's all in one place.

I use Google to auto back up as that seems to work pretty well. To share them I just use imgur which with the app is quick and easy to create a image link. Bit clunky to have to upload twice but not an issue on WiFi.

Okay. I have an album set up in Flickr. It is publicly shared.

In the album is a picture which is also shown as publicly shared.

I view the picture and click on the Share Photo button at the bottom and get the following link

https://flic.kr/p/DoTtAA

I assumed I would just put IMG and /IMG in [ around that and it would appear here. It doesn't (I think). What shoudl I do to show the picture?

You open the image, then click the Share curvy arrow thing at the bottom, then select BBCode and it generates a bit of text you copy & paste into your post.

I use Flickr. The auto uploader works nicely on my Mac and my iPhone. It doesn't deal with auto uploads of RAW files.
