Flicking through an MBUK April 2018 magazine (breaking news I know). I came across a reader email titled Stranger Danger, by George Wood. Who, according to him (if he even exists) has a trail dog (yeah a dog) called Ozzy.
The email warns of the pitfalls of meeting randoms off internet forums, in a somewhat amusing fashion, with the editors implication it was Singletrack "especially if they frequent forums named after a narrow, winding type of trail".
Now I know these readers letters are not always actual readers letters! But in this one, it mentions Crocs, Halfords bike, 21 gears and no helmet, in an incident where said random is rendered unconscious with his flying Crocs becoming stuck in a tree. I knew then it must be real. As fond as STW forum members are of Americanisms, the only thing that caused me to question the veracity of the published email, was the use of (could have been ironic) non STW lexicon shred and dude.
Right then, which one of you was it?
