You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Doing the mtb tour de Mont Blanc in Sept. Seems crazy, but the cheapest way of getting to Courmayeur is going to be hiring a car from Geneva. French side is significantly cheaper than Swiss side, but I don’t understand the restrictions to go to the French side of the airport:
“ONLY passengers in possession of an air ticket valid for day D +/-1 are authorised to pass between the international sector and the France sector, and vice versa.”
Presumably (??!!) if we have just arrived we can cross??
Any advice gratefully received!
Turn left and go up the stairs in the baggage hall from what I remember.
I think it just means you can transfer between sides if you have a air ticket valid +/- 1 day of going through. Never done this at Geneva just hired and driven into France. In Basel you can just walk between Swiss / French sides with no passport control, but you do have to use the stairs!
Look on snowheads forum - loads of advice on this and quite common. Issue is the French car won’t (generally) have vignette for Swiss motorway so you’ll avoid going into Switzerland then back to France.
Cheers, that’s what I thought, but didn’t want to get there & not be able to cross & get the car!
I’ve used French side a few times. You can go through , it’s a very small terminal though. Also beware the return as you need to aim for Ferny Voltaire NOT the airport, you go past it then back round. You can avoid the Vignette issue by going round the lake as well. It’s a bit of a faff to be fair and on the way back in you have to negotiate the double doors from hell !
Also don't forget to check the hire car desk opening hours, when I did this a couple months back it was only a Swiss side company that had a desk open at 23:00!
