Have always driven on previous Morzine/Les Gets trips but this year we are trying a family holiday in Annecy (hopefully with a bit of riding) but flying into Geneva. We'll need a decent sized car for 5 of us plus bags - does anyone have any recommendations/advice for hiring from Geneva?(will pre book which I assume is cheaper)

We've hired cars in Italy and France in the last three years and used Skyscanner to find something.  You can always double check with providers directly regarding prices but Skyscanner seems to be cheaper generally.

Pretty sure I used Kayak to find the best option. Think we went with Budget or Europcar in the end - the car rental car park is a bus ride away from the airport terminal, but everything works fairly efficiently.

Unless you booked on the French side!

We found the swiss side cheaper for a VW buzz and it also included the motorway pass. Seem to remember that a bus took us down the road to the car park from the airport. Can't remember who we used.

They also never charged us for the electric used 👍

Always use Auto Europe and use hertz or Avis form their site.

Been going a long time and you can cancel and change right up until the last minute if the prices get cheaper or you want a different / better car.

This year: booked for Colorado 16 days £740 then it dropped to 525. Rebooked you get the money back.

Used them - must be 10 times and always worked out well in terms of hassle free.

Used Holiday Autos this year to get a dollar rental car (subsidiary of Hertz apparently). Got a Kia Ceed estate car for a week for £450. Seemed a pretty good deal to me.

Read the small print as many of the companies now add a cross-border charge from Switzerland to France. Pretty sure Alamo group don't as we've used them the last couple of times but we got stung through booking.com a couple of years back when the charge had just been introduced. It's per day so added a fair bit to the hire.

Desks are in the terminal and it's only a short walk to P51 parking where the cars are kept. You can get the bus but sometimes takes longer and more hassle than just walking (depending on weather / luggage etc).
