I use the bike for commuting and shopping but I'm planning on doing some over night trips this summer.

The saddle bags (12lt) look good but a rack is cheaper and i've got plenty of utility straps and dry bags. The bike came with gorrila cages which are handy. I've also got loads of my old Army kit (bivi, basha etc) so not super compact and light weight.

Are saddle bags that much better than a rear rack? I just cant help thinking that a rack would be more flexible and cheaper
