Now I fail to find what relevance it is to his employers, the press or the public who he chooses to play hide the sausage with..... But if he's been boffing his biographer, is there any humour to be found in the title of her book being "All in" 😆

If it wasn't public, it's a lovely blackmail opportunity. So getting into something like that as director of the CIA is very relevant to his employers.

Because adultery is an offence under Article 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

BritMil have equivalent rules too, not that it doesn't go on. His offence was to get caught. The military sets itself higher standards otherwise they may as well be politicians or IT contractors.

In most jobs it would be irrelevant. But not as head of the CIA for the reason above. Plus it shows exceptionally poor judgement in a role that requires above-average judgement. As he now knows, the first rule of affairs is finding a very discrete partner...

Also letting his mistress have unrestricted access to his company email account is pretty incompetent - he should be fired for that alone.

"The military sets itself higher standards otherwise they may as well be politicians or IT contractors"

That definitely explains why politicians and IT contractors have such a reputation for brutalising, humiliating and torturing their prisoners in the Iraqi and Afghan theatres...

It's possible Hora meant honey-trap.
From what I was just reading, if the dopey bint he was boffing hadn't gone all bunny-boiler and started threatening the other woman, nobody would ever have found out. They were using a dead-drop email system, which, while not infallible, is very difficult to detect if nobody's looking for it. He should have used encryption and TOR to hide his IP address. You'd have thunk the boss of the CIA would have a clue...

This article has an interesting view on how it came about.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/nov/13/petraeus-surveillance-state-fbi

Looks like the surveillance state has bitten itself
(also some other references seem to suggest that the FBI agent following up the "case" was very anti obama.

Land of the free (my £rse)
