Way, way out of touch with tech so need some help.

Looking to spend up to c£800 on a laptop. Uses will be multimedia, net, some work, uploading and editing photos and videos from cameras.

I get a corporate discount on Dells. Is there any point in looking elsewhere at this price range?

What is the deal with Windows 7 going to 8?

Thanks for any ideas.

Got to say I think laptops are done these days, unless maybe a Macbook air or some Samsung similar thing I'm trying to find the name of.* The days of lugging laptops around breaking your back I think are fast disappearing.

Still depends what you want to do with it I guess..

*Found it, Samsung 9 series.

I'd be looking at a second hand mac book pro or a decent Dell XPS in that case.

The Dell XPS13 gets good reviews and should be in budget assuming a 10%ish discount.

I think there is plenty of life in laptops yet for anyone who needs to do serious work.

If you want a MacBook Groupon have a deal that might be useful

Exactly what I'd say as for that amount of money you will get a very good one. Love my Pro and will never go back to a Windows system ever again. Beautifully built and just great to use too.
