I signed up for the race pass last year and will let it run over. Not that bothered about the adventure style stuff at the moment (although I expect I will watch some of them) but £20 for all the racing seems a pretty good deal. I had racing on when working from home when the season was on and it was great

Is there any reason to get it over Eurosport? I usually get Eurosport for £20 a year and it has an Apple TV app.

Yes, signed up for it yesterday. Twenty quid for a year is a bargain.

It is an incredible bargain at £20. Was actually going to PSA it.

+ve there are no adverts whatsoever during the racing, and they really do cover the whole race.
+ve Like post race analysis and the pundits (even Brad is OK).

.

-ve Watching on a web browser wasn't possible last year (it may be now though). You had to use the app itself or Chromecast. They (GCN) are now saying that they allow you watch over all your devices, which suggests that they'll be picking up Apple TV and maybe browsers too. Worth checking.

-

There'll be some extra bike content which is likely to be at least OK too. The GCN YouTube stuff (for free) is mixed as far as I'm concerned, but if they do a couple of exclusive docs or factory visits as part of GCN+, then probably worth it over Eurosport for the same price.

I was on race pass but stopped it. I will get the 20 quid for the year thing as I liked the look of the longer format stuff.

I've got the race pass so will be upgraded as I understand it. Seems like a bargain at £20 (I paid full whack).

I like the CX so it's good for that. Generally a fan of the channel and the cost seems reasonable to support the content and coverage.

I'm interested more for the long form content than the racing, but I'm very tempted. I signed up to Eurosport for a year a couple of years back for the racing and ended up watching hardly any so that was a bit of a waste even at half price.

An Apple TV app would definitely swing it for me.

I get Eurosport on Virgin on the telly - having no ads would be good but is there any racing shown on GCN that isn't on Eurosport? Thinking the non-World Cup CX series.

How is their coverage of the Grand Tours compared to ITV?
Personally, I don't have the inclination to sit thru 4-6 hrs worth of racing over multiple days and the daily 1hr highlight that ITV put together suits me (and I think Gary, Ned and David make a good team)
I'm hoping this won't change!

I'd consider GCN+ if ITV drop out of the tour coverage but that might be academic for me as I live in Canada and the coverage may be geo-blocked anyway. (I can circumvent this on ITV using a VPN...not sure that will be possible using the GCN app)

signed uop a few days ago and looks good so far, racepass@gcn etc then sign in also coming son on fire stick, but if you cant wait down load firefox ap then watch in via racepass@gcn.

The quality of the filming is excellent and the editing of the previews must have took ages, a lot of stuff going live on the 15 feb this year. and its £19.99 for the year/

@ mark Eurosport (and I assume gcn as it's the same people) highlights of grand tours are 90 mins as opposed to ITV's hour. The extra half hour is good as they can tell more of the story of the race as well as showing the finale of the stage in near to real time. With itv they sometimes almost kick the show off on the final climb and just show that.

Would swap from Eurosport to gcn but if you can't watch it in a browser then that's a deal-breaker. Eurosport also extended my subscription by quite a bit during the pandemic as there was no sport on.

I've just signed up. Don't watch nearly enough cycling and now I'm really getting back into it all so for £20 why not 🙂

I prefer ITVs coverage for the Tour and Vuelta, but they don't cover the Giro or the classics. I love watching both of those things so for me the Race Pass is very worthwhile.

Made sense for me....down under used to get Eurosport on fetch box but the option got cancelled...get some excellent coverage tdf and some spring classics on state SBS but little womens and no Vuelta so for price a no brainer for me just need to remember to cancel if dont use much

Thanks for the reminder, I was thinking this weekend that I'd like to watch the Spring Classics so might give GCN a try over Eurosport.

I can't imagine not watching the Tour on ITV4 though so probably will stick to that in June/July.

If GCN feature documentaries too as I think someone says up there ^^ then that'll clinch it for me I think.

Enjoying some of the documentaries and other pieces that are non-YouTube available. Can't complain for £20. Will I renew next year if it goes to full whack? Possibly - will have to see how much I watch the live races etc...

I just got it in the hope of watching the Spring Classics. It's a bit of a pain, as there is no app for my Fire Stick, but I can bring it up through Firefox.

I like supporting GCN as I think it's a great resource, with generally fantastic content and decent folk making it work.

I'm wavering - really dithering on it.

I like the adventurey stuff but tbh I'd should probably be doing it, rather than watching it.

I'm not at all techy. Does Racepass work on a Chrome / Safari browser? Just open it and watch on a laptop / desktop? If so I might be able to manage that.

Just watched both episodes of “Chile - the longest descent” on the fireTV app. For me, that’s the cost of the annual sub recovered in 2 1/2 hours.

I've just subscribed via to GCN+ via the Google app on my phone but you can also watch content via your web browser at
https://plus.globalcyclingnetwork.com were you can sign in with your Google/Apple/Facebook account.
Looks like you might be able to create an account directly from that website but, IIRC, you can't pay that way (or maybe you don't get the 50% discount). Anyway, try it...

I subscribed up via the app and no problem logging on an viewing content on my MacBook via Safari. For £20 a bargain IMO - I've been waiting years for Mark Beaumont's 80-day ride.

In just before the offer ended.

Managed to install and log into the fire-stick version of the app too so I can watch it on a proper telly hopefully, rather than via a phone or browser...

I'll be looking later to see if they've ported it to the (Samsung) TV in the lounge (not that I often get to choose what's on that one)...

They really need to publicize which devices the app works with better (IMO) I was still a bit on the fence until I checked for the fire-stick app...

Yeah they need to fix the app so it works, keeps dropping out during the racing and that’s really annoying. The half price deal was worth a punt but if they don’t sort it out I won’t renew.

Found it on an old Firestick, downloaded the app, but sign-in is tricky on an old smart TV, so watched on PC, must sort TV later.

Subscribed before the deadline, figure I’ll get £20 worth just from the films up already and some racing later in the year.

Wasn’t going to but thought better of it right at the last minute.
My Eurosport runs out just before the tour but no guarantee there will be an offer from them beforehand.
Don’t have airplay and Sony tv is non android so no app available.
Have a fire stick so hopefully they will sort an app in time for the grand tours.

Yep I did the same afer dithering about it for a couple of weeks due to no AppleTV app but according to Dan Lloyd via Twitter it appears that once the FireStick, AndroidTV and SamsungTV apps are out and anything game breaking has been fixed then the AppleTV app is next.  I'm a little bemused as to why it's taking as long as it is considering they already have an iOS app and a Eurosport player app.  From what I can tell from watching KBK yesterday and switching between GCN+ in a browser and Eurosport player on AppleTV, it's not only the same video feed (which was expected) but it's the same software that's running both as well, so it seems like they must be mostly just customising the frontend to differentiate it from Eurosport Player, no clue why that would take so long.

No App for our (less than 2 years old) Samsung Telly

App on Firestick works well, I've been Streaming all the (ad-free) CX from the last few months (that I've got recorded on the Virgin box from eurosport, but seldom get to watch) in the spare room and on the side while I work, Watched a couple of Docs too, Reckon I'll get some good use out of this Sub...

At least two of the existing documentaries/travelogues feature people I know.

I'm hoping they bring out a Roku app shortly.

When I log-in at plus.globalcyclingnetwork.com I'm asked to subscribe again.
I'm logged in using the same email account as when I subscribed via Google Play (my main Google account).

I've emailed their support team but no response (yet)

Finding the GCN highlights inferior to the Eurosport ones - GCN long highlights of Giro so far have been about half an hour, the ones on the Eurosport app are an hour and you have the breakaway show if you want to watch Brian Smith bang on.

Bit frustrating as my Eurosport subscription which was extended due to Covid expires at the weekend. Fastforwarding through the live replay is a bit of a pain as I have to stop casting every time I want to jog it on 20 minutes.

are you in the UK @t3ap0t? The eurosport highlights show is broadcast at 7pm on Quest which is free to air. We watch that in preference to the race-only highlights on GCN

Race Pass - best Mother's Day present ever ... except son didn't realise that due to my cancelling the tv license that it was no longer possible to watch any live telly.

Happy watching highlights or the whole race after the event but had no joy with streaming, kept dropping, so watch on the desktop via Chrome.

Don't like the GCN commentary at all. Nobody can surpass David Millar with Ned Boulting, imo.

I am in UK @nbt, however at 7pm I'm in the thick of putting kids to bed. Same thing deprives me of watching ITV's Tour coverage which is annoyingly not available online until the following day.

Think there were some other options for Giro (S4C maybe), will check this evening.

If you can record from freevew then definitely record off Quest - if not then DPLay is the app that they use for catchup. We rarely watch broadcast TV live, it's almost always record it then play and FF through the ad breaks

@t3ap0t (or anyone else) - any idea what is happening with Eurosport more generally? I have a subscription still, went on Eurosport Player today and it says to it is soon moving to Eurosport.co.uk - went on there to cycling then videos and it is chaos - no headers, not split by event and where it says 'Highlights' on a video it doesn't say what stage. Gone back to Eurosport Player for now, noting they don't even have a Giro section, does this mean the switch off is imminent?

Also I use Eurosport Player app on a number of devices, I'll be really peeved if they get turned off - this a move to Discovery+ and I am worrying about nothing?

Am I just being amazingly stupid?

I subscribed to GCN+ at something called https://racepass.globalcyclingnetwork.com/ for £20 back in March.

Now I find that it won't let me watch the TdF. Was I just being unreasonable to expect that for my subscription?

ISP having one of those wobbles than makes sites think you’re in another country? If so a modem reboot usually sorts that

Gcn app is less bug ridden than Eurosport but it’s a low bar. Still isn’t hard to find issues. The android tv app only accepts the ok button input from my Sony remote. But if I use the remote app on my phone I can select other feeds than the default. Generally just cast it from phone though which is better. I just don’t get how such poor app quality can make it out to the general consumer.

Yesterday my live feed had the French 3 way commentary. No idea how that happened but I enjoyed it. Sure one of the guys called team Ineos les Grenadine.

Can’t beat Imlach and boardman though. Highlights repeated on itv hd later on for those on standard def freeview.
