Flipping through the channels this morning looking for something to watch and took a look at GB news on freeview.
Farage was on and they started an interview with a business owner who went on about the problems of brexit(so funny, talking to farage about it too), the interview cut short and the presenters claiming 'technical difficulties'.
It felt like the interviewee was blaming brexit too much and they just cut him off.

"We demand freedom of speach!!!1111!!"
"No, not like that !!!"
what a humiliating way to trash your reputation and end your career

Wholly predictable. Wasn’t Neil just a soon-to-retire placeholder anyhow? Warming the chair for some (sub)-tabloid-ranking rent-a-gobs to fill later? It’s all about the backers just follow the money.
I’m a little surprised he swung so low to begin with, but maybe I shouldn’t have been.
I’ve tuned in a few times and it just sounds like a shameless (and boring) sermon. Akin to an endless public (dis)service broadcast. This is The Dawning Of the Ageing of Antiwokies. It’s actually really weird.
I just typed ‘GB news’ into youtibes search engine and get this:

The world is burning, the shelves are emptying, millions worldwide dying of a pandemic that’s about to become endemic, we just pulled out of Afghanistan after 20 years and people are dying and seeking refuge.
But…omygeee transgender people.
Wait, there is a COVID-19 piece. Except it seems to be Scottish Jesus making an endless and quasi-religious sermon against Gillick competence. Seriously weird.
Would it be too much schadenfreude to wish a climate change related forest fire to burn him out of his south of france home ?
Can't be long now before Katie Hopkins gets a slot 🙁
Then 'Tommy Robinson'
Why this traitor feels he can spurn his country in these dark hours I don’t know.
I know you are taking the mickey but it is always worth remembering like many of the more prominent brexiteer elites his main residence is elsewhere. In his case France.
I guess he thought it was going to be more highbrow than it ended up being and wouldnt have been helped by the fact the right wing culture warriors had made it hard if not impossible for him to remain at the BBC with their demands that presenters should be restricted on social media.

He didn't have to do 'woke watch' though did he. I think he's lost the plot TBH, he used to be a very good journalist even if I regularly disagreed with him - now he's just a grumpy reactionary old man.

LOL, I'd not wondered where Jamba has got to for a while

I'm less inclined to think he's lost the plot, more inclined to think that events licensed him to say what he was "really" thinking.
Good to see they continue to offer a broad church approach and have hired that awful Oakshit woman.
Whŷ don’t they just mirror Sky (sic)News Australia broadcasts except with British overdubs?
Surely AI could handle such a task?
Whoppers are definitely on their menu and overwhelmingly so. The real trick is in packaging and hawking them as wholesome, healthy fare. Could turn out that, after all, even Neil didn’t have the stomach for that? Or am I being overly-benevolent and optimistic?

Jury still out. His latest appearance on QT where he has claimed as much. To paraphrase:
‘It just wasn’t me’
For me it at this time comes over more:
‘It weren’t me, guvnor’
or
‘You ain’t seen me, right?’
Well Mr Neil, whatever the truth - that ‘tan’ is sus as. We can all agree on that.
It's easier to convince yourself that you're in league with a bunch of reasonable folks rather than batshit mental types until you're actually working with them full-time.
I'm guessing Neil deluded himself that editorial meetings would be about the free flow of ideas and robust debate rather than a monotone spaff of 'woke Britain' soundbites and Dan Wootton being an arsehole.
^ He’s been in the media business for 48 years and he was founding chairman of GBNews. He’s known for being ruthlessly sharp and interrogative. In other words, he’s no wide-eyed spring lamb. Am I really supposed to believe that loftily-perched ‘wool’ to have been a movable eye-cover which somehow loses it’s grasp and catches him out during editorial meetings?
True, true. But I think his years having smoke blown up his arse at the BBC probably gave him the impression that he could shape the channel as he pleased, but then he found out that 'founding chairman' was simply a decorative title to promote it rather than a position of actual influence.
No fool like an old fool.
Anyhow, have they hired Hatie Hopkins and Laurence Fox yet?
Is it dead yet?
Andrew Neil's 'version' of what happened. Apols for Mail link!

TL;DR - had his ego stroked with the 'chairman' title, somehow believed it would be some grand journalistic enterprise, then it dawned on him that he had no editorial input, was there just to give it respectability at launch while they populated the channel with right wing 'shock jocks'.
This was a vision that might have worked. But if you watch the constant themes that come through again and again from the shock jockeys on GB News, the perception is “we hate migrants, we hate the NHS, we hate lockdown and we hate Meghan Markle
<Surprised Pikachu face> 🙂
This was a vision that might have worked.
Is that another vision in a parallel universe? Because Nel’s declared vision at the outset was
We will puncture the pomposity of our elites and politics, business, media and academia and expose their growing promotion of cancel culture for the threat to free speech and democracy that it is.
The fact that the particular brand of ‘free speech’ used by GBN so often resembles:

Is surely no accident?
