I need to replace my back gate. IT currently has bolt on the inside but I never use them as I need to get in from the outside to get to the hose after a ride.
I'd like to keep it locked but not have to carry another key as I already have a massive bunch and am trying to reduce them.
I was thinking of getting a simple combination lock. Anyone recommend something that will be cheap and survive outside. Needs to be possible to open from both sides although only secure on one. No need to be super secure as the wall the gate is in is only 7ft high. Just need to be a deterrent.
Digital code locks are easily re programed, eg given a new code, but theyre insecure for accessable doors, easy to climb wall and turn handle and then enter into the sterile area of the rear yard.
Better deal would be rim cyclinder deadlocking lock, eg like a yale lock but with a yale tyrpe key you lock from outside.
My solution to the massive bunch of keys is separate bike key bunch on a lanyard . so i have my front door bike locks and gate keys only on that . when I comute or go for a local ride I naturally take that minimal bunch .
I am thinking about getting one of these. They need a key but can operate from either side.

I have a Borg, but as above, it's not a deadlock... works well though and has a nice mechanical clunk.
Oooh - what about http://borglocks.com/mechanical-keyless-locks/metal-gate-lock
Edit: Not "cheap" - but robust!
