Dragged the child up into the snow this weekend with the promise of noodles for lunch. Failed as a parent due to poor connection on my little gas stove, o ring on the connection to the canister looks a bit brittle and crushed so didn't risk it with audible hissing.

Presuming that the connection to the standard screw in canisters will be standardized, and once i double check measurements, anything to look out for in terms of material suitable for use with gas? A quick amazon search reveals multiple options of o-rings to fit but would like to ensure i don't go bang

Had this problem with an alpkit stove. They replaced the whole thing when I asked for an o ring

For my msr pocket rocket I contacted msr and they sent me a few o rings. I was in a long trip so wanted a couple of spares

Is it one of these you need?

Other gear shops probably sell similar.

They're probably Viton aka FKM

"Chemical resistance
Mineral oil and grease, ASTM oil No. 1, and IRM 902 and IRM 903 oils
Non-flammable hydraulic fluids (HFD)
Silicone oil and grease
Mineral and vegetable oil and grease
Aliphatic hydrocarbons (butane, propane, natural gas)
Aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene)
Chlorinated hydrocarbons (trichloroethylene and carbon tetrachloride)
Gasoline (including high alcohol content)
High vacuum
Very good ozone, weather and aging resistance"

A lot of the stoves made for Alpkit etc are made by a Chinese company called Fire Maple. In the past they've been helpful with spares for me when I contacted them directly. One of the reasons I now use a South Korean Kovea stove, though, is they make parts like o-rings and regulators easily available as part of the backup.
