[Closed] Gas hob igniter won’t stop clicking

The Mrs was cooking tea for our son earlier when the oven tripped out the RCD. I thought it would be an element or similar but have turned it back on and the oven seems to work fine. However the front right igniter for the gas job (which is run off the same plug/switch in the kitchen) won’t stop clicking/sparking. I have tried cleaning it but no difference.

Anyone got got any suggestions?

we can still use the oven but the wife makes cakes as a part time job so having the igniter clicking for 2 plus hours is not ideal

thanks in advance

Edit: the job and oven are only 2 years old

Ours does it if water gets underneath the knobs, causing a short circuit. Leaving it turned off overnight usually works.

Ah it appears there was an incident with a bain Marie when they were making fudge and water may have got on the knobs. Will leave it overnight and see what happens in the morning. Cheers

Dito the above. I had this happen when I was a little too enthusiastic with the cleaning.

Can you unplug the hob and just use a match or handheld piezo igniter thingy?

That's what I do but ours is separate from the oven power supply.

Not sure if I can just unplug the hob. There is one switch on the wall and the plugs are behind the oven so I would have to take the oven out to find out.
