We have a little 2 burner camping gaz cooker for when we camp as a family.

We have had it a while, and i dont really remember why, but it has the regulator for 'patio gas' and as such uses those botttles. However a trip to BandQ revealed that a 5kg bottle was about £30...without the deposit.

So if i change the regulator, is any other system of gas cheaper? Is calor cheaper? Camping gaz?

Thanks

Beener

Always found the bigger bottles better value, the 5kg will probably last ages

Camping Gaz has always been more expensive than butane/propane, we've always swapped the regulators on new stoves.

ok. i think the 5kg lasted 2 x16 day hols and a couple of weekends.

It seems like i may be having to spend a lot to save a little!

Gumtree has loads of empty gas bottles you can pick up for about £5. You can then take this to get refilled which will save you the initial £30 for the empty gas bottle

I get mine topped up at a local bus / mini bus depot. Ive never paid more than about £10-12. I stand VERY well back when they do it. 🙂

Try freecycle for an empty to avoid the deposit.
