Unfortunately my Garmin Forerunner has started to have a lot of dead pixels.
I bought it in November 2018 and it looks like I only have a warranty for 2 years:

Are Garmin chancing their arm with this or do they need to honor a longer warranty period?
thanks
🙂
IME if you talk nicely to Garmin and don't go quoting consumer law to them, there's a good chance they'll sort you out.
Garmin are excellent they replaced my Vivoactive HR well out of warranty with a reconditioned one. I didn’t even ask they contacted from seeing a tweet it had broken. Getting all “I know my rights” will likely end up them showing you so do they.
Sounds positive - I bought it from Wiggle, so I'll go through them first.
Thanks
Na, go to Garmin, for sure.
hm, out of warranty, I've generally found that Garmin will offer you a reconditioned unit in exchange for your one, but at a fairly hefty price.
The charging pins were a bit corroded on my Fenix 5 Plus (i.e. obviously poor materials, rather than damage). I think it would only have cost me a little bit more to buy a brand new one than to exchange it.
Yeah the price was hefty it was a whole £0.
IIRC warranty is 2 years? They've always been helpful with me on out of warranty/exchange items. Call them.
Maybe it depends who you get. My partner had a similar experience with a Vivoactive 3 - ended up being cheaper to buy a new one than exchange.
My wife had her vivoactive replaced out of warranty FOC after I contacted them through the Garmin Facebook page.
We've had great experience with Garmin warranty over the years.
Had two Edge 305s replaced (1 free of charge, 1 for a small cost) when about 3 years old, both started with a 'Please can you help with a problem' type initial email into their customer support at the time.
They also swapped a 510 after 14 months that had become damaged after being out 5 hours in torrential rain.
All in all great, and god products too imho.
I'm pretty sure warranty on electronic goods is 2 years by law...if the manufacturer decides to lengthen it then that is up to them...suspect most would be happy with less. So 2 years warranty is standard, but Garmin seem willing to help in most cases, just don't go in all guns blazing quoting laws and they should see you right some way or another.
They've only offered me a refurb at a discount off RRP, which was close to what I bought the unit for in the first place.

I'm glad it's not just me.
A few months ago they replaced my out of warranty Edge 530 with a refurbished one in perfect condition. I sent them the old one and a few weeks later I got the replacement.
After reading the above, I'll go direct to Garmin. I'll update this thread later 🙂
So, Garmin has offered me a replacement Forerunner 735xt for about £100.
I can't remember how much I paid for it and when I tried to check on Wiggle, it look like it has been discontinued.
I'm considering not to buy it and try something else. To be honest, I only want an activity logger, i.e to record the days I ran or cycled - anything else is overkill. would a fitbit do that for me?
A 735xt for £100 is a steal. Especially if you are saying you don't need any of the more recent functionality. There's a reason it took them years to replace it - it was so hard to improve on.

Looking at what they've sold for on eBay recently, I don't think it's an amazing price for an exchange.
