Any opinions?
I want a basic activity tracker with a built in HRM. Won't be used for biking, I have a Edge 520 for that. Won't be used for running, I have a running watch for that. Will be worn for every day in the office/home/out and about so needs to be quite plain and unassuming. I will also likely wear a "normal" watch on the other wrist so plain is good. I use the Garmin software for running and cycling so like the idea that this model will talk to that too.
The Vivosmart seems to fit the bill and is also currently available at a good price.
got one, it will do what you want.
The garmin tells the time, why wear another watch on the other wrist? You gonna wear a stopwatch round your neck too?

I like a nice watch, and will continue to wear one, it's the only jewelry I wear bar my wedding ring. I want the Vivofit as an activity tracker, if I could have one without the time I would.
What are you hoping to get from an activity tracker if you already have devices for specific sports? It's effectively just going to be a pedometer.

Sort of, yes. But also tracking HR which I use to help me not over train and also look at stress levels. Plus, I'm a geek and like looking at data and trends, which I can get from Garmin Connect. I want a separate devise as my running watch is great for that but I prefer a dressier watch at work, hence wanting something small and basic to wear on the other wrist.
So if it's for training why would you be wearing a fancy watch too?
If you have a galaxy smart phone can't you test your stress / HR on that at work?
I'd see if there's one you can try on in Curry's or somewhere first.
I have a previous gen one (HR+) which is fine in terms of function but quite bulky. I do wear it to work but it doesn't fit under the sleeves of some of my shirts and I've had people ask me about it before when wearing a regular watch as well.
It looks like they've slimmed it down but not sure how much. Fitbit have better options for being unobtrusive but the integration with other Garmin devices is good.
I use one to track HR and sleep with a proper watch on the other hand.
The only thing id caution with it is the strap - it’s not changeable and mines just snapped. Fix is to send back for repair at Garmin at cost.
Oops

I’ve got a Huawei Band 3 pro for this use as it works better with iOS Health app, the garmin app can sometimes be flaky when syncing with iOS. The Huawei has worked fine as a simple fitness tracker, has gps built in if you do want to use it as a ride tracker too.
I've had an original Vivosmart (very discrete, no HR, screens fail after 6 months), a Vivosmart HR (too chunky, more watch like) and now have a Vivosmart 4. I skipped the 3 as it seemed similar to the HR and still quite big.
The Vivosmart 4 has the best of everything so far - small, discrete (screen normally off), does HR and lots of other stuff, easily does a week on one charge. I also use it for running in the gym where the HR/distance is good enough.
I too wear a normal watch on the other wrist, and from looking at the 3 it still seems a bit big for a fitness band, like the HR was. The 4 is much smaller.
