Tried forcing a reboot by holding the top left bottun and it reboots then instantly displays a trianlge again. Cant connect it to the Garmin software as it won't boot.

Any ideas?

This happen yesterday to my wife's forunner 45s.
It went through a reboot which I couldn't get out of including the small triangle!
Then the screen went blank.
So we charged it over night, next morning we held down the light button (which I now understand turns it on or off🫣) to turn it back on.
All seems ok today!

My 2x5 (can't recall the number) crashed yesterday too, had to hold the power button down for ages before it'd reboot, then it had the wrong time all day even after hitting a GPS connection. Seems ok today though.

I'll try leaving it overnight and charge it in the morning then.

Left it plugged in all night but still the same. I can reboot it by holding the top left button for abojt 15 seconds then the screen flashes once, then displays the triangle.

I phoned Garmin tech support when I had a problem with my Fenix.  They were really helpful.

Can you plug it into a PC with a USB cable then see if you can access it as a USB drive? If so, try deleting any courses and tracks, then try rebooting.

I had this with my 45. I couldn't fix it but it was in warranty so took it back.

My Venus did this when the battery was completely flat. Had to leave it on charger for about 24 hours and it finally woke up.

Don't bin it, get in touch with Garmin, I think they even have live chat.

Their customer service is excellent and they have replaced stuff for me out of warranty. Which is not uncommon for them

Just got off a chat with them. They offered a replacement for £99 which is what they are new in a few places so not very good. I said id expect it to last longer than 2.5 years but they wouldnt do anything else for me.

That sounds a bit shit. I would try another chat They're £99 new in Argos so £50 would be a better offer.

Tried another chat but they logged the first chat againt the serial number so no luck again.

So, what to get instead thats likely to last longer than garmin?

I've had a fairly mixed bag of support from Garmin too.

Anyone have any recommendations for a reliable non garmin gps watch for running?

I'm currently using Garmin. If I was in the market for a new watch I'd have a look at DC rainmakers reviews of the coros. No idea if they are any good but I'd explore as a possible option.

My forerunner 955 did this. It would eventually reboot by holding in the required buttons then the time would 'freeze'. Again, I would reboot it only for it to display the triangle and it would go through this cycle. Eventually contacted Garmin as it was still under warranty and the replaced it without question. Replacement has been fine.
