Okay, as the New topic button doesn't appear on my Kindle Fire I had to start this on my phone, so I can now post.
I have a problem with my Forerunner 45, I have had for about 3 years and like it, it does everything I need. In the last couple of days the watch face has started just popping off, hanging by the connecting cable. I can push it back and it seems to click into place but it can be easily dislodged.
I'd been thinking about replacing it with a Forerunner 55 and have started looking round.
Has anyone had a similar problem and can it be sorted easily?
I wonder if an aftermarket case might hold it in place?

Could be worth a try, for £9 it might be worth it, but it would need to watertight, at least in rain.
After-market case arrived and fitted. Clips over buttons on the sides, so, I think, should stay in place. Seems to hold the face on ok. Probably not completely water tight, so should avoid immersion. Not a permanent solution but will provide temporary cover.
I have emailed Garmin support for advice, should take a couple of days. Meantime, thanks @scotroutes
