For some reason I've been unable to get a proper answer on this.
I've had a Garmin Fenix 5+ for a couple years. I got it in CeX for like £120 which in my opinion is an unreal deal. Unfortunately though, not sure how but I managed to crack the screen quite badly.
The watch does everything I want really - heart rate, training stress, GPS, altimeter etc and I don't really want to buy a fancy new one just to still be told I am being unproductive all the time still.
As I got it second hand, Garmin can't help with the screen replacement. They haven't answered my emails anyway. I've seen that you can buy new watch faces for like £50 on eBay but I have a bit of a trust issue with this, and I am not sure of the skills required. Has anyone successfully replaced a screen on a Garmin watch from a third party?
The cracks aren't getting worse, but I'm worried about water ingress and eventually a big flake of glass falling off.
Have you tried calling Garmin? Been a long time since I needed to speak to them, but their customer service used to be very good. If you are anywhere near southampton they have an actual physical store where maybe you could also ask, though I would imagine they are more sales people than knowledgable about repairing older devices
I haven't actually - might do it! Assumption on my part, but I figured since it's second hand and I have long lost the receipt there wouldn't be much they could do. I suppose they might offer it as a paid service which I would consider if it was a cheaper option than a new watch!
one issue ive found with aftermarket screens ( not for my garmin in fairness) is that the cheap ebay ones were nothing like corning gorilla glass that the original was.
That was the main reason they were cheap i guessed. they lasted nothing like the originals.
Id say trust the spidy sense.
if it works and is usable and your not going swimming with it - id stick a screen protector on it to keep it together and live with it till end of life - and given its a 5+ it must be a fair few years old ?
If i was swimming id be looking to get someone reputable to replace it with a warrenty....
